Be it known' that I, R.l M. By this arrangement the rails will be-rem'urka'bly strong, so much so, that if the notched rails were laid downs quarter of :n.mile on each side ofnnd on'a. bridge, they would be suiiiciently strong to hold np and support a. heavy .trninlif the arches ofthe bridge should by any accident give way, thus preventing disasterjand loss of life.

Having thus fully'descr-ibed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
