BOTTLE SEAL.
APPLICATION FILED HAYS, 1906.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB HERMANN', OF CINCINNATI. OHIO.
BOTTLE-SEAL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 6, 1906.
Application filed May 3, 1906. Serial No. 814,986.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JACOB HERMANN, a

a resident of 861 Hutchins avenue, inthe city of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, (whose post-oflice address is 601.
\ Vine street, in the city of Cincinnati, county ing part of this speci cation.
M invention relates to bottle-seals; and it has or its object the improvement in the construction of such devices whereby the are simplified, and rendered more eflicient in action. The novelty of my invention consistsin the combination and subcombination of the parts, as will be hereinafter set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a section on line 1 1 of Fig. 5 of the outside cap of m bottle-seal. Fig. 2 is an end view of Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Fig; 2. Fi 4 is a transverse section of my bottle-seal icfore it is placed on a bottle. Fig. 5 is an elevation showin the outside of the cap and the perforationsw ere the cap is tobe torn when the bottle is opened. Fig. 6 is a vertical section through abottle with cap and seal in lace. Fig. 7 is an isometric view of the ruber band used in my seal .to make a joint. Fig. 8 is an elevation of the cap, showing how the cap is torn through the perforations to remove it from the bottle.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several drawings.
is crimped onto a bott A represents the metallic ca made of any material suitab e for the purpose.
B shows the perforations in the cap to facilitate the tearing off of the cap when the bottle on which thecap is laced is to be opened.
C is the washer, which is placed inside of the cap A to make an air tignt joint when the cap made up of two pieces or arts. part 0? is made of a soft t in metal, preferably of block-tin, and the inner part C is made of a rubber band.
To aid in opening a bottle, the cap A has a lip A extending down on one side.
In Fig. 6, E represents the top and a portion of the neck of a bottle.
The operation of my bottle-seal is as follows: The washer C is placed in the cap A. The cap is placed on the top of a bottle and by means of suitable mechanism clamped onto the'top of the bottle, as shown in Fig. 6.
Having described my invention, what I claim is 1. A bottle-closure comprising a cap, and
a two-part washer within the cap embodying an interior rubber band and a soft thin meta envel cipl entirely inclosing the rubber band.
' 2. e combination wlth a metallic retaining-cap having a li of a washer embodying an inner member 0 yielding material and an envelop of soft-thin metal entirely inclosing the inner member.
