Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. KLOKKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a new and useful Corn-Cap, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to corn-caps such as are adapted for use in covering corns and other excrescences to retain medicated material thereonfor their treatment, or to protect them from injury from various causes; and it comprises a sack or covering, which is preferably air tight, adapted to inclose the affected part and containing medicated material for treatment thereof, and embodying means to bind the covering on the affected part to provide an hermetic covering there- The object of the invention is to provide a device of the character referred to which shall be effective to shield the affected part as long as required, which will supply the necessarymedication for any desired purpose,

and which will be applicable to parts of various sizes.

In the various views of the drawings like characters indicate like parts, and 1 indicates a cap of suitable size and shape and composed, preferably, of elastic material so that it will readily adjust itself to the configuration of the affected parts.

In the drawing the device is illustrated as applied to toes Where corns and like excrescences most frequently occur.

The cap 1 is of sufficient size and length to inclose and cover entirely the toe. To the interior surface of the cap 1 a portion 2 of soft material, such as cotton, 1s attached. This material is secured to the cap 1 by means of some suitable adhesive substance,

.such as rubber cement, which Will not break when the cap is expanded for application to enlarged parts. It is preferable that the edges of the material only be united to the cap and such is the arrangement illustrated, the adhering part of the material being indicated at 3. Ihis'leaves the entire central part of the material 2 soft and yielding as is best for the purposes of the device. The material 2 being soft and absorbent will readily carry any medications that it may be desired to apply to the affected parts. The open end of the cap 1 is turned back upon the outer side thereof as shown at 4, and the two surfaces are adhered together by some suitable elastic adhesive substance. A flexible fastening device 5 is arranged in an annular passage 6 formed near the end of the cap between the turned over portion and the wall of the cap and the ends of said fastening device project through a slot 7 in said turned over portion at a slight distance from the bend.

In using the device the material 2 may, unless previously treated, be medicated as most suitable for the occasion and affection. For corns it is preferable that the material 2 be saturated with water after which the cap may be drawn over the toe, or other affected part, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Then the fastener 5 should be drawn almost to the point of tolerance in order to close the cap hermetically. The cap should then be permitted to remain in position until it has performed its function of softening or removing the excrescenee. For purposes of best service the fastener 2 should be of non-elastic materiah I am aware that there maybe variations in form, construction and arrangement of the device without in the least departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
