Description

PATENTED AUG. 6, 1907.

COMBINED PAPER-WEIGHT AND PEN-RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 6, 1907.
Application filed January 10, 1906. ser 11 295,364.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOHN W. BIERLEIN and LEON- ARD ZEISER, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Combined Paper-Weight and Pen- Rack, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to a new article of manufacture consisting of a combined paper weight and pen rack, and has for its object to produce such an article of a single piece of glass which will magnify and display a picture or advertisementat a convenient angle so as to be readily observed.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of 0111 invention, and Fig. 2, a central vertical section thereof.
In carrying out our invention as embodied in these drawings, A represents the base which is preferably hollowed from the under side, and upon the base is formed a ledge or block B from which projects upward and rearward the magnifying holder 0. The back of the holder is recessed so as to receive a photograph, picture or advertising matter, as indicated at D, which latter may be held in place either by being pasted to the surface of the holder or any suitable mechanical means may be used for clamping the picture in place. The front of the base is beveled as indicated at F to provide the surface for displaying advertising matter, or when the article is to be used as a souvenir photograph holder to contain any suitable inscription.
G are lugs projecting upward from the front of the base, the inner walls of which lugs are beveled and in conjunction with the beveled surface F. These lugs form a pen or pencil rack.
The whole device is molded from a sin le piece of glass, and makes an exceedingly effective paper weightand photograph display as well as a pen and pencil rack.
Of course we do not wish to be limited to the exact angles and outlines of the device, as this may be varied without departing from the spirit of our invention.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new and useful, is
1. As a new article of manufacture, a base having; one edge beveled, a block on the base, a holder projecting upwardly from the block on an incline, and lugs projecting from the corners of the base adjacent the beveled edge, said base, block, holder, and lugs being formed of a single piece of glass.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a base hollowed from its under side and having one edge beveled, a block on the base, a holder projecting upwardly from the blocli on an incline, and lugs projecting from the corners of the base adjacent the beveled edge, said base, block, holder and lugs being formed of a single piece of glass.
In testimony whereof, we have hereunto aflixed our signatures in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN W. BIERLEIN. LEONARD ZEISEII.
