To all whom it may concern."
Be known that I, HILAIRE VINCENT, a'citizen of the United States, residing at Manchester, in the county of Hillsboro and State of New Hampshire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bottles, oi which the following is a specification.
My invention pertains to non-refillable bottles-i. c., bottles constructed with a view of preventing refilling thereof without making the fact patent; and its novelty, utility and practical advantages will be fully understood from the following description and claims when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specication, in which:

Referring by letter to the said drawings 4and more par ticularly to Figs. l and 2 thereof:
A is the bottle body, and B is the neck which is preferably integral with the body as illustrated. The said neck is provided with an interior shoulder e, an exterior trough b, and an upwardly extending flange c which forms the inner wall ofthe said trough b and is provided with three (more or less) passages d which are preferably notches formed in its upper end as shown.
C is an open and preferably beveled valve-seat arranged in the neck B on the shoulder a thereof and retained in position by frictional Contact, cement or other means.
D is a valve designed to normally rest against the valve-seat; and E is a spring interposed between and connected to the valve D and a depending bow e on the seat C, and having for its purpose'to normally hold the valve to its seat and yet permit the valve to move away from the seat when the weight of the substance contained in the bottle is imposed on the said valve. Any suitable means may be employed to yicldingly hold the valve to its seat 4in lieu of the means shown in Fig. l and just described. For instance the spring may be interposed between the valve and the cap, presently described, as shown in Fig. 3 in which the spring is lettered E, or-a spring E2 may be connected to the valvesscat C and arranged to bear on the upper end of the valve, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
F is a cap which may be and preferably is formed of the same kind of material as the body and neck of the bottle. The said cap comprises a flat topf which bears on the upper end of the liange eso as to preclude the introduction of a breaking or valve opening instrument between the two, and a depending flange g which is provided with a pouring opening h and is designed to be seated in the. trough b of the neck and secured in such position by cement i placed in the said trough.
ln the practical use of my invention liquor or other substance is placed in the bottle prior to the arrangement of the valve-seat C and the valve D in the bottle neck. The cap F is then placed in the position shown relative to the bottle neck and is secured in such position through the medium of the cement i. With this done it will be observed that it is practically impossible to introduce substance into the bottle without resorting to breakage of one or more oi the parts and thereby making patent the fact that an attempt has been made to fraudulently refill the bottle, and yet when it is desired to remove the contents of the bottle the same may be readily accomplished by simply inverting the bot tle, since when this is done the weight of the substance in the bottle will press the valve away from its seat and the substance or a portion thereof will pass out through the passages d in the neck flange c and the opening h in the cap F. The said opening h in the cap is preferably disposed midway between two of the passages in the neck flange c, this with a view of effectually preventing the introduction of an instrument into the neck through the said opening h and one of the passages d in the flange c.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that in addition to being a practical non-refillable bottle, my improved bottle is materially advantageous because of the facility with which it .may be illed with substance in the first instance, and also because it is simple, inexpensive and durable.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by LettersPatent, is:
1. The combination in :1 bottle, of a neck having an ex terior trough and also having an upwardly extending flange forming the inner Wall of the trough and provided with a passage, a valve arranged in the neck, and a cap comprising a top hearing on the upper end of the flange or the neck and a depending iiange provided with an opening and secured in the trough of the neck through the medium of cement.
2. The cdhibinaton in a bottle, of a neck having` an interior shoulder and an exterior trough and alsohaving an upwardly extendingI flange forming the inner wall of the trough and provided in its upperend with one or more notches, a valve-seat arranged in the neck and on the shoulder thereof, a spring-pressed valve normally resting against said seat, and a cap comprising` a top bearing on the upper end of the flange of the neck and a depending flange provided with an opening and secured in the trough of the neck through the medium o1 cement.
The combination in a bottle, of a neck havingl an ex tcror trough and also having an upwardly extending portion provided with a lateral passage, a cap comprising a top portion b earing on the upper end of the said upwardly extending portion of the neck, and a flange depending from said top portion and having a pouringr aperture and also having its lower edge disposed in the trough of the neck, 10 and cement contained in the said trough and serving to connect the cap to the neck.
