IMPROVEMENT iN PLows.

Specification forming part o Letters Patent No. 86,839, dated February 9, 1869.

To all 'whom it may concern.-

'Be it known that I, ALBERT PIINGALLS, of Shelbyville, in the county of Shelby and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Plow; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable` others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being 'had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speeitication, in whichl Figure l represents a perspective view of my improved plow7 showing the point detached. Fig. 2 is a detail vertical transverse section ot' the same, taken on the plane of 'the line x x, Fig. l.

This invention relates to a new plow, Which is light, ot' a simple construction, and easily repaired; and it consists, rst, in the applicalf tion ot a supporting-frame cast or made of one piece; and,seco'nd, of a removable plow-point, which is fitted upon` the end ot' the frame and provided by being bent with a socket for the reception ot` said end.

A in the drawings represents the plow-beam. B is the frame, C the share,l and D the point.

The beam A is made of wood or suitable material, ot' suitable form.

The frame B consists of a hoiizontal lower bar, a, from the ends of whichtwo uprights, b and c, project upward.

The front upright, I), is rounded, and has a beveled edge to receive the plowshare, while the rear upright, c, is straightor of othersuitable forni. The upperends of the uprights b c have tenons that are tted through thepllowbeam or are otherwise so constructed as to be readily lastened.4 The frame is east of .one piece of cast o r malleable iron or other metal, and supports not only theplowshare C, which is riveted to the beveled edge of the frontpost, b, but also to the landside-plate d., which is fastened to the lower bar, a, hy means of rivets or otherwise.

The landside may, it' desired, bemade to form part of the frame instead ot' being fastened thereto.. The plowshare is made Without a point, and the front end ofthe frame projects beyond it, as shown,

The plow-point D is bent downward'on the landside and then in and up to form a socket, e, forithe point ofthe l'rame to tit into. The plow-point is 'thus easily removable from the frame and can be replaced when worn.

Having th usdescrihed my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the angular frame B, curved at the front and forming a wedge-point, landsideplate d, share C, beam A, and socketpointJ D, all constructed substantially as shown and described.
