FANNY GUTTMAN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y-
GATAMIENIAL DRAW'ERS.
' for use during the menstruation period.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same,
'which will be more fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improvement; Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same, and Fig. 3 is a front elm Bdrm of the improvement in an open position.
The body A of the drawers is provided with a waistband B having in its rear portion a draw string C for adjusting the Waistband B to the size of the waist of the wearer, and the open or divided front of the body A is adapted to be closed byafastening device D, such as a vertical row of buttons and buttonholes on the overlapping sides of the front of the body A.
The legs E and E are divided lengthwise at the front and are adapted to be closed by fastening devices F, such as buttons and button-holes, and portions of the said legs E, E form integral parts of a front flap Gforming a continuation of the seat H and the crotch I of the drawers. fastened to the front of t e drawers by a fastening device, preferably by providing the flap with a button-hole J, for engagement with one of the buttons of the fastenlng device D. Thus by the arrangement described the flap G may be buttoned ow or higher up, to draw the crotch I as tight as desired. On the inside of the seat H and the inner side of the flap G are secured 100 s K, K on which are tied the ends of a pad of an absorbent material such as absorbenteotto'n'; the said pad Lbeing adapted to receive the discharge during the menstrufi tion period. a
A ocket N is wooed in the seat H, crotch I an front flap ,fot' the reception of a sheet Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed July g, 1907. Serial No. 381.829-
The fla G is adapted to be Patented Jan. 7, 1908.
O of thin rubber or like moistu', terial, and which sheet ca dily placed in position in the pocket N .if emoved therefrom by way of a slit N extending transversely at the inner side of the ocket directly under and in alinement with the pad L. Tightening straps P,P are secured on the outer side of the seat H and are crossed under the crotch I and drawn through loops held engaged with a button R, secured-to the waistband B at or near the top portion there of, as will be readily understood by reference 1 i to Fig. 1. By the arrangement described the sheet 0 and the pad L can be readily placed" in position in the drawers'or removed therefrom when the drawers are unbuttoned and 1 opened up, as illustrated in Fig. 3. Itwill also be seen that the drawers with the sheet 0 removed and the pad L detached can b .1 I
readil washed in the usual manner.
By aving the flap G arranged as described, it can be drawn more or less tight to suit the wearer, and by having the tightening straps P the crotch I andthe pad L can be drawn more or less tight to suit the convenience of the wearer.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. Sanitary drawers adapted to be opened at the front and along the legs, and having a flap adapted to be fastened to the front of the drawers, portions of the flap forming portions of the said legs and tightenin straps secured to the seat .of the drawers an arranged to pass under the crotch, the said straps being adapted to be fastened to the front of the drawers.
2. 3. Sanitary drawers having a front flap capable of being opened and closed and forming a continuation of the seat of the drawers, the said seat and front flap having loops, a pad of an absorbent material removably connected at its ends to the said loops, and straps secured to the outside of the seat of the drawers and crossing each other, under 65" on the front flap G, each strap having a row' i V J k of button-holes R, any one of which can be the crotch, the said straps being adapted to be secured to the front of the drawers.
4. A sanitary drawers having a front flap capable of being opened and. closed and forming a continuation of the seat of the 'drawers, a pocket formed in the said seat and flap and having a transversely extending slit at the inside of the drawers, and a sheet of moisture-proof material held'in the said pocket and adapted to be removed and replaced by way of the said slit.
5. Sanitary drawers having a frontflap capable. of being opened and closed and forming a continuation of the seat of the drawers, a pocket formed .in the said seat and flap and having a transversely extending slit at the inside of the drawers, a'sheet of moisture-proof material held in the said pocket and adapted to be removed and replaced by way of the said slit, loops on the inner face of the said seat andflap at the ends of the said slit, and a padof-an absorbent material and removably tied at its ends to the said loops.
6. Sanitary drawers having a front flap capable of being opened and closed and forming a continuation of the seat of the drawers, and tightening, straps attached to the-seat at the outside thereof and adapted to be fastened to the front of the drawers.
7. Sanitary drawers having a front flap capable of being opened and closed and forming a continuation of the seat of the drawers, a pocket formed in the said seat and flap and having a transversely extending slit at the inside of the drawers, a sheet of moisture-proof material heldin the said pocket and adapted to be removed and replaced by way of the said slit, and tightening straps attached to the seat at the'outside seat portion of the drawers thereof and adjustably secured to the front of the drawers.
