Application filed Hovember 30, 1908. Serial No. 485,315.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it. known that I, HENRY TUNNEssEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Hazleton, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Surgical Appliances; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. I
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in snrgical appliances and my object is to provide a device adapted to engage parts of the person and awaken the person in case of an erection of the parts so engaged, and thereby prevent involuntary nocturnal emissions.
A further object is to provide means for adjusting parts of the device and a still further object is to provide means for securing the device in position.
(lthcr objects and advantages will be hereinafter referred to and more particular] y pointedput in the claim.
in the accompanying drawings which are made a part of this application, Figure l is a front elevation of the device in position to be applied to use, and, Fig. 2 is a sectional viev-r thereof as seen on line 2+2, Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 indicates a plate, in the upper corners of which are provided slots 2, in which are to be secured any suitable form of straps 3, while the lower corners of the plates are provided with openings 4-, in which are secured cords 5, said straps and cords being employed for securing the device in position.
Pivot-ally secured to the plate 1 adjacent its lon itudinal center and at the lower edge thereo are semi-circular arms 6, the lower meeting ends of said arms overlapping each other and being provided with registering oblong openings 7, through which extends a clamping bolt 8, one end of the bolt being threaded and provided with a nut 9, by which means the arms may be readily clamped in their adjusted positions. The inner edges of the arms 6 are provided with inwardly extending tongues 10, which tongues are adapted to loosely engage the parts to which the device is applied under normal conditions and positively engage the parts in case of an enlargement, which will result in immediately arousing the person and prevent an emission.
What I claim is:
A device of the character described, comprising a plate member having diagonal upper corner edges and slots arranged therein parallel with said diagonal corner edges, suspending straps for said plate member looped through said slots, said plate member having openings near its opposite corner edges, and an additional suspending band applied to said plate member through said openings, duplicate arcuate arms having their upper ends pivoted to said plate member about centrally, near its bottom edge, said arms being provided upon their inner edges with opposed radial tongues, and their lower ends adapted to overlap each other, said overlapping portions or ends being provided with slots, and an adjusting screw passing through the slots of said overlap ping portions, said plate member and arm members being arranged in parallel planes, the plate member being arranged above said arms and said arms adapted for application below said plate. K
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY TUNNESSEN.
