Description

PETER SCHEDIN, 0F CHICAGG, ILLINOIS.
TRUCK.
Application filed November 16, 1908, Serial No. 462,951.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 5, 191%. Renewed July 30, 1909. Serial No. 510,416.
lb a ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER SOHEDIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trucks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in trucks, and more particularly to trucks adapted for 'vention being be readily placed in position and receive the edges of the stove, on their supporting standards, and permit the stove to be easily moved from place to place.
A further object is to provide improved trucks of extremely simple inexpenslve eon- V struction, yet strong and durable in use.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and. arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanyingdrawings Figure l, is a perspective view illustrating my improvements showing one side of a stove supported on a truck. Fig. 2, is a view in elevation showing both trucks supporting the stove, and Fig. 3, is a perspective view of the trucks.
In the use of my improvements I employ two trucks which are identical in construction, and the hereinafter description of one will apply alike to both.
1 represents a V-shaped triangular frame preferably of wood or other suitable material supported upon casters 2 at the respective ends or corners of the frame. 3 represents a cross bar secured on the frame 1 in any approved manner, and having its ends bent upward at right angles forming standards 4, the upper ends of which latter are notched or recessed providing forked upper ends 5 to receive the lower edge of a stove therein.
supporting and transporting l stoves and like articles, the ob ect of the into provide trucks which can 1 r I I i I J In operation the narrow end of a truck is moved under one side of a stove, and the stove is then lifted or tilted by means of a crowbar or other suitable device, and the truck so positioned that the upper ends of the standards 4 will be below an edge of some part of the stove. The stove is then lowered until its edges rest in the forked upper ends of the standards, and a second truck is then disposed below the stove at the side opposite to that of the first mentioned truck. This side of the stove is then lifted and the truck positioned so as to receive the edge of the stove in the forked upper ends of its standards. When in this position, the stove can be readily moved from place to place rolling freely on the casters 2.
While the trucks may be of other shape than that shown, they are preferably provi ded with one end narrower than the other, so as to be readily inserted between the legs of a stove, but, I do not wish to confine myself to this construction, nor to the other details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described comprising an approximately triangular or V shaped frame, casters supporting the frame. across bar secured on the frame, the ends of said cross bar bent upward at right angles forming standards, and the upper ends of said standards made with notches or recesses.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JANET E. HOGAN, HELEN i LILLIs.
