SAFETY-RAZOR.
I Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Apr. 12 1910.
Application filed September 5, 1908. Serial No. 451,844.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH MOLKENTHIN,
I J r., a citizen of the United States, residing of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful im rovements in safety razors and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel devices of this character wherein the cutting blade will be effectually held in operative position.
ItF-is also an object of the invention to provide novel device of this character wherein means is provided for preventing the lather and the hair that has been cut from clogging or obstructingthe cutting edge of the blade.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel device of this character wherein the holder for the blade is formed from a single blank.
Furthermore it is an object of the invention to provildea novel device of this character which will be simple in construction, efficient and advantageous in practice and comparativelyinexpensive to manufacture.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the novel arrangement and combinationof parts to be hereinafter more particularly referred to.
In describing the invention in det-ail'references willbe-had tothe accom anying draw- .ings forming a part of this speclfication wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and.
said extension being curved inwardly and adapted to form a stop at a point a little beyond the rear end ofthe socket to limit the insertion of the handle as is made 3P? parent by Fig. 3. The opposite longitudinal edge of the holder 1 is formed into a plurality of teeth 5 which are segmentally curved. At each corner the holder is provided with a clip 6, within which the razor blade 7 is adapted to pass. By this arrangement it will be seen that the blade 7 will be securely held by the holder 1. The portion of the holder 1 between its edges and from points adjacent thereto is bulged. or curved inwardly and thus adapted to form a support for the inner lower portion of said socket, whose wei ht, together with that of the handle woul otherwise be; sustained alone by the slender suspending extension 2 have been out will pass'between the teeth 5 within the chamber formed by the curved portion 8, as is believed to be apparent.
It is also an essential feature of the invention that the holder be formed from a single blank as is illustrated in Fig. 4. In this blank the body portion a has one edge portion cut to form the teeth '6 between its sides while the edge portions are extended as at c, said edge portions being adapted" to be bent back upon themselves to form the clips 6 on the toothed longitudinal edge of the holder 1. The side portions of the opposite longi tudinal edge of the blank a is extended as at (1, said extensions being adapted to be bent to form the remainder of the clips 6. The edge portion between the extensions d is curved outwardly and this portion is provided with slits to form the square extension 6, said square bent upon itsel to form the ferrule 3 before referred to and the remainder portion forms the extension 2.
I claim l A razor of the type described, comprising a blade and a holder therefor, formed at its top edge with an inwardly curved extension terminating in a handle-receiving socket, said extension beingadapted to form a stop to limit the insertion of the handle into said socket, said holder being also curved or bulged inwardly intermediately of its top portion being adapted tobe.
and bottom edges and thus form a support name to this speeificetion in the presence of for the inner lower portion. of said socket, two subscribing witnesses salid bulged ortion having its bottom edge provided with a plurality of inwardlg curved JOSEPH MOLKENTHIN 5 teeth with their convexities presente to said Witnesses:
blade. GEORGEEICHELE,
In testimony whereof I have signed my Wnmm WEBB.
