Abstract
Such a connection device, on one hand, has to prevent any contamination during the opening of the connector, and on the other hand, the connection of the junction parts should be such that an inadvertent opening, during the dialysis treatment, is practically impossible. This is obtained by interlocking both connection parts (1, 2) by means of a notch closure (4) and by maintaining together both parts by means of a coupling sleeve (3). A safety cam (17) protrudes inside the sleeve (3) against the claws of the notch closure thereby making it impossible to open the closure when the sleeve is screwed. Two channels (10, 11) extend through the connection device, one providing for the circulation of the treatment fluid, and the other one for a disinfectant. Through the outlet orifices (15) provided in the wall of the second channel (11), the desinfectant reaches an empty space (16) which surrounds the connection area of the two connection parts so that said space is always filled with desinfectant, or in case of need, is rinsed by said desinfectant.
Description
Kupplungsstück für eine medizinische Leitungsanordnung Coupling piece for a medical line arrangement
The invention relates to a coupling piece for a medical line arrangement, as is used for example in peritoneal dialysis. In such a treatment, the treatment medium supplied from a periodically replaceable storage container must be supplied via a coupling piece to the line system going to the patient. Since the coupling must therefore be opened each time the container is changed, the risk of contamination during this process is quite high.
Various coupling pieces for the stated purpose have already been proposed, such as plug-in couplings, cone, Luer lock, sajonet and screw couplings.
With these known couplings, however, it is very difficult to meet the strict regulations for sterility, and it was also found that the coupling could be released unintentionally during the body movements carried out by the wearer, with the very serious consequences for the latter. The invention has the purpose of avoiding the disadvantages mentioned. The embodiment of the coupling piece according to the invention results from claim 1. With reference to the figure of the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below. The coupling piece shown in axial section has the two coupling parts 1 and 2 and is penetrated by channels 10 and 11. The two coupling parts 1, 2 are positively connected to one another by a snap connection. In order to reliably avoid unintentional detachment of the two Xuppiung parts from one another, an additional locking element 3 is provided as an additional locking element; this engages with a peripheral rib 5a in a correspondingly shaped groove 5g of the coupling part 1, while its other end a thread 6 is screwed to the coupling part 2. With the help of the two O-rings 7 at both ends of the union nut 3, the transition point between the two coupling parts is completely sealed off from the outside. Immediately above its internal thread, the union nut is provided with an inwardly projecting safety cam 17 which prevents the claw of the snap lock 4 from escaping radially and thus prevents this lock from being released unintentionally. 1.2 hose nipples 8,8a and 9,9a are provided at both ends of the coupling parts for connecting the hose lines. The sealing surface between the two coupling parts is designed for the Eanal lo as a double cone 12 and for the channel 11 as a single cone 13. Due to the conical design of the contact surfaces, an additional adhesive force is obtained between the two coupling parts by a friction fit. In the socket 14 of the coupling part 2, outflow openings 15 are present, which open into a cavity surrounding the connection starch of the parts 1, 2. In operation of the dialysis device, dialysis fluid is led from the reservoir to the patient via the channel 10, while a disinfectant is fed into the line 11. The hose line connected to the hose nipple 9a is closed off by a manually operated valve. Each time, after the coupling has been opened due to a change of the storage container, the valve mentioned is opened after the reassembly and a stream of disinfectant is pressed through the cavities 16, so that any infection germs that may be present are rinsed out. The valve is then closed and the cavities 16 always remain completely filled with the disinfectant during the subsequent treatment period. These precautions thus ensure optimal sterile conditions during the entire duration of the dialysis treatment. All parts of the coupling piece are made of a medically harmless plastic.
