Abstract

Endodontia instruments or armoured cords coated with a layer or an absorbing lapping. They are intended to dry or absorb a liquid, apply or impregnate any substance, or remove debris inside a pulp canal or a cavity.

Description

The present invention relates mainly to instruments of the type: endodontic instruments used in odontostomatology for dental treatments. This instrument makes it possible to dry, absorb or allow the application or impregnation of any substance at the level of the various elements of the oral cavity; it may possibly remain temporarily in a tooth or serve as a support for endocanal trimming products.
In known devices of this kind: 1) - The absorbent paper tips are difficult to use as soon as they are wet. The point twists and you cannot thread them into the fine roots.
On the other hand, the paper cone once wet can tear during removal and a fragment can remain in the canal.
Les COTOMECHES selon l'invention permettent d'éviter ces inconvénients et rendent possibles d'autres applications.2 °) - Wicks made extemporaneously from cotton fibers wound on a metal instrument (probe, nerve puller or other) have the disadvantage of the risk of leaving fibers in the channels which could lead to putrefaction. They are tedious to manufacture, to sterilize and it is difficult to calibrate them with precision; moreover, the fibers which are not fixed slide along the instrument during friction in a channel and cannot then play their role at the end of the instrument at the bottom of the channel. The COTOMECHES according to the invention make it possible to avoid these drawbacks and make other applications possible.
The "cotomèche" according to the invention consists of a rod which may be metallic or made of synthetic material on which is fixed an absorbent material which according to its nature can be wound, braided, sprayed, polymerized or applied around.
According to a first variant (Fig.l) the cotomèche will consist of a metal rod (l) on which will be fixed by direct or indirect bonding or heat bonding a thickness of absorbent material which may be constituted by fibers, threads (2) or tapes. These wires can be specially prepared and treated before being wound and fixed around the central core. This covering can be obtained by simple winding, by crossed or superimposed windings, braiding or other processes. A similar effect can be obtained by attaching a sheet of paper or absorbent material. The metal reinforcement can be braided with the absorbent wire and, depending on its section, can also act as a scraper. According to the 2nd variant (Fig. 2), the central rod is machined or laminated (l) so as to create cubicles which will be filled with absorbent material (2). The advantage of this process is to avoid any fraying of the absorbent material when the latter is not constituted by coiled wire. According to the 3rd variant, the wick which can be produced according to the first or the second variant is impregnated during its manufacture with a particular substance. It can be for example a hemostatic or a vasoconstrictor intended to stop an intracanal hemorrhage, or a substance allowing a retraction of gum with a reduction in gingivorrhagia, the wick being placed around the neck of the tooth or in the interdental proximal areas.
The devices of the present invention can be used whenever it is desired to make instruments capable of absorbing liquid or pasty elements, with the aim of drying or sanitizing a canal, a sulcus or a papillary zone. Depending on the indications, they can be presented with or without a handle, (Fig. 1) (3) with a round section (for intraductal use for example) or a flat or dihedral section (Fig. 3) for coronal or proximal use : (1) preformed matrix, (2) coating.
The process will be used when you want to apply certain drugs or products inside the roots of your teeth or when you want to remove certain debris or dust.
Domaines d'applicationBy extension other applications can be found in mechanics (even other than dentistry), lubrication of certain delicate organs, or to remove certain products (sludge type), or to dry out certain micro circuits.
