Description

aj-3£ hull fitted __ t with equipment for playing
"Woπnholegame Cards" game
The present invention relates to the field of the gambling houses intended as a set of equipment, installations and furnishings provided to optimize the games of cards.
More particularly, the present invention has been conceived with reference to the game so-called
"Wormholegame Cards" (registered Trademark) which allows the following five different playing ways, i.e. five matches, all of them are registered Trademarks:
"OPEN NUMBERS MATCH"
"SHUT NUMBERS MATCH"
"OPEN COLOURS MATCH"
"SHUT COLOURS MATCH"
"SUPER WORMHOLE MATCH"
The latter allows Open Numbers and Shut Numbers matches which are called Open Active and Shut Active, respectively, to be played alternately.
"Wormholegame Cards" game is played with a pack of cards of colours divided into four like packs each with eight cards, and a pack of cards of scores divided into four like packs each with twelve cards, and consists of three or four hands in which the croupier deals out the cards casually onto the gambling-table beginning to deal at first eight cards of colours (blue, brown, light-blue, green, orange, pink, red, and yellow) and then nine cards of the twelve game-scores (between zero and eleven) ; said packs of cards together with further two packs of cards 6/19271 PCI7IT95/00224
used for indicating some play conditions are the object of an Application filed by the same Applicant.
In "Wormholegame Cards" five matches are played simultaneously, wherein the bank plays each match together with eight players as a maximum, the bank playing then five different matches and one player being allowed to play only one match,- therefore, the maximum number of players which may play "Wormholegame Cards" is forty, corresponding to the seats of the gambling-table and four associated stands, all of them provided with eight seats for the players; the number of players which may be accommodated by the large hall for playing "Wormholegame Cards" comprising four single gambling rooms is then one hundred and sixty, the maximum number of players and people which may be accommodated in the large hall depending on whether all of the different gambling ways mentioned above are played.
In each hand of "Wormholegame Cards" the cards of colours are dealt out to the eight players designated by eight numbers imprinted on the gambling-table. The bank does not ever receive any card of colours. The cards of scores are dealt out and placed onto the squares of the gambling- table at the left of the croupier and to the eight players still designated by the eight above-mentioned numbers at the horizontal row following that of the cards of colours. Each player is represented during the game by either a number or a colour depending on what match he is going to play, i.e. :
- one of the eight numbers provided on the gambling-table in case of Super Wormhole match; - one of the eight numbers provided on the corresponding stand in case of Open Numbers and Shut Numbers matches;
- one of the eight colours provided in the corresponding stands in case of Open Colours and Shut Colours matches. These colours are allotted by dealing out during the first hand.
Only players taking part in the Super Wormhole match are sitting around the gambling-table and look at the game from close up. Eight of the other thirty- wo players are sitting in the left part of the sixteen-seat stand, the so-called Open Numbers stand, eight players are sitting in the right part of the sixteen-seat stand, the so-called Shut Numbers stand, eight players are sitting in the left eight-seat stand, the so-called Open Colours stand, and eight players are sitting in the right eight-seat stand, the so-called Shut Colours stand. Such thirty-two players look at the game on a large display in front of them. Summing up, the rules of "Wormholegame Cards" provide that any match may have only one winner, i.e. either the bank or one of the eight players. Any match, even if it has different rules, is based upon total scores, advantage scores, combination of colours, two types of superbonus (sbz and sbc) , different types of won or lost chips, and so on, the whole being controlled by a software which allows all of the players to follow the partial and final results of the game on a main display and the information relative to any match on further displays.
Even the game direction, including the approach to the game, is controlled by a computerized procedure which manages the bookings made by the players. Such operations are performed by means of a magnetic card which any player is provided of and through which any player, after having booked the selected match, approach his gambling-seat pro¬ vided with peripherals consisting of the suitable equip¬ ment such as a terminal with monitor, keyboard and a slot for the magnetic card.
The situation of the bookings of all of the matches is shown on displays located at the upper part of two side boards.
The game is essentially played at the gambling-table as far as the sole game played with cards is concerned, while the progress of the partial and final results, scores, combinations, chips, and bookings are shown on suitable displays designed for receiving all useful information which is abbreviated as follows:

In the displays in which the players are represented by the colours, such colours are replaced by letters A to H imprinted at the eight seats of the stands in the same succession as the alphabetical order of the names of the colours, and namely: A = blue; B = brown; C = cyan; D = green; E = orange; F = pink; G = red; H = yellow. The staff employed in carrying out the play is:
- a croupier who deals out the cards;
- a computer assistant who digitizes the same colours and scores as those of the cards dealt out. He is not in¬ dispensable if the gambling-table is provided with optical reader capable of detecting and transmitting colours and scores of the cards directly to the displays.
- two cashiers who move among players during the intervals of the matches.
The present invention aims at optimizing the development of the game and to control the approach of the players thereto and the arrangement of the latter in the gambling- hall so as to make the game itself functional and easier.
To this end there is provided a large hall fitted out with equipment for playing the game so-called "Wormholegame Cards" (registered Trademark) and consisting of four like sectors of a circle, each including a gambling- able, divided in two sectora, having the form of a polygon with sixteen sides, four of which are missing and the remaining twelve in the first sector are used to form eight raised gambling-places for the players, and, in the secon sector four raised sides, two for the staff and two for computers and other game accessories. A croupier is sitting at the centre of such gambling-table on a lower stool with respect to those of the players so that they can follow the rounds of the game from above A generally semicircular stand is located on a raised base with respect to the gambling-table and at a predetermined distance therefrom behind the eight players sitting at the gambling-table, and includes sixteen seats for the players divided into two sets of eight seats numbered 1 to 8 from the left to the right. Two more stands, each including one set of 8 seats for further sixteen players, are located along an arc of a circle at a distance from each other and from the above-mentioned semicircular stand, each set of 8 seats being featured by eight different colours which follow one another with the same succession in either stand. Both stands are further raised with respect to the semicircular stand and are joined to each other by a stair with some steps. The difference in level among the gambling-table and the stands is overcome by side ramps connecting the different rooms of the hall There also provided a display unit having several functions and comprising a central board divided into two like parts, and two side boards of the same size as the central board located at 45° to the latter and divided into four like parts, the three boards including a large screen and nine displays, all of them located behind the gambling-table facing the stands m a raised position to the upper surface of the gambling-table to allow the players to see imagines and information relative to the game, two moving trolleys for cash operation provided with an electromotor and driven by a cashier,* an outfit for the croupier consisting of one rake and eight like rectangular grates each including fifteen squares, eight of which for the cards and seven for the separation thereof; a camera secured to the ceiling above the gambling-table. The large hall of square form is divided into four sectors of a circle and can accommodate up to one hundred and sixty players in the central part, further rooms being also provided for people playing other variations of the game as well as for the four central cash-desks and services.
One advantage achieved by the present invention essen¬ tially consists in that the players may readily take profit of the several variations offered by the game. A second advantage consists in that a great number of players may take part in the game at the same time and at only one gambling-table with only one croupier. A further advantage is given by the fact that such game may be industrially and economically utilized as the numerous variations of such game can be easily played owing to the layout of the hall assisted by specific hardware and software means.
These and other advantages will be more readily understood by anyone skilled in the art from the following de¬ scription with reference to the accompanying drawings given by way of a not limiting example, in which:

matches as shown in Fig. 17, the display of Shut Colours match as shown in Fig. 18, the display of Shut Numbers match as shown in Fig 16, and the display of Open Numbers match as shown in Fig. 15. As shown in the figures, the displays of Open Numbers and Shut Numbers matches have the first horizontal row provided with a first square designated by the abbreviation "BA" , the next eight squares each designated by one of the eight numbers (1 to 8) associated to the players, and the last square designated by the abbreviation "T" , while the displays of Open Colours and Shut Colours matches have the eight cen¬ tral squares designated by the eight colours associated to the players (A = blue; B = brown; C = cyan; D = green; E = orange; F = pink; G = red; H = yellow) . It should be further appreciated that Open Numbers and Shut Numbers matches are shown twice on the displays, as well as the bookings of Super Wormhole match, in order to allow the information to be better seen from everywhere
- two moving trolleys 6 which are located during the game at the sides of the gambling-table 1 near the posi¬ tions 11a of the staff, and are provided with an electro¬ motor in order to allow the cashiers to move among players along predetermined ways for cash operations;
- an outfit for the croupier, as shown in Figs. 4, 4a, 4b, consisting of a rake 7 used for shifting on the gambling- able 1 eight rectangular grates 5, preferably of wood, which includes fifteen squares, eight squares 52 of which being provided with a light bottom and designed to receive the cards, and the other seven squares 53 being provided with a dark bottom and used as division between any pair of the former squares. The eight grates 5 are of such a size as to form, if disposed side by side, a larger square 51.
Such gambling-table 1 has a succession of number 1 to 8 imprinted at the positions 11 of the players along an arc of circle and facing the players. The same numbers 1 to 8 indicating the players are repeated in front of the croupier on gambling-table 1 correspondingly to the same number of vertical columns 13, each having eight squares imprinted in the gambling-table 1 for positioning the eight grates 5 and separated from one another by squares with dark bottom 14 so as to define a larger square 15 on which the panel 51 can be superimposed.
At the left hand side of squares 15 there are two vertical columns 16a and 16b, each consisting of four squares aligned with the last four squares of the grates. In the first column 16a there are from above: the square designated by the letters SW for receiving initially the card determining the match to be played in the Super Wormhole, i.e. Open Active or Shut Active matches; the square designated by the letters AD for receiving the bank advantage card after the first hand; the square for receiving the pack of cards used for indicating the winner of the five matches; the last square for receiving the pack of the bank advantage cards .
In the second column 16b there are four squares for receiving in succession from above the four cards of the bank scores corresponding to the four hands of the game . On the right hand side of square 15 there are provided two horizontal rows 17a and 17b comprising four squares and aligned with the last but two and the last squares of the grate, respectively; placed in row 17a are the four packs of the cards of colours, and in row 17b the four packs of the cards of scores.
Gambling-table 1 is further provided with a computer 18 located at the extreme position 11a at the left hand side of the croupier and operated by an assistant. Instead of the computer there might be provided an optical reader capable of detecting and transmitting colours and scores of the cards directly to the displays.
As can be seen in Fig. 2, the large hall of the present invention is built on different levels in order to allow screens 41, 42a and 42b to be better seen from the players accommodated at gambling-table 1 and the stands 2 and 3. With reference to the level of eight-seat stands 3, one can see that stand 2 and gambling-table 1 are at two progressively decreasing levels.
In addition, the central position 11a occupied by the croupier is further lowered in order to allow an easier deal of the cards and to permit a better sight of the large screen and the displays .
The boards of video display 4 are raised to be better seen, and the side boards 42a and 42b are at 45° to the central board 41.
In a preferred embodiment, the difference in level between stand 3 and stand 2 and between stand 2 and gambling-table 1 is 40 cm, and the position of the croupier is lowered by further 30 cm, and the radial distance between gambling- table 1 and stand 2 and between stand 3 and stand 2 is 225 cm and 220 cm, respectively. In addition, in such an embodiment, the interval between the two stands 3 is 235 cm, and the central board and the side boards have a dimension of 145 x 290 x 30 cm, are raised by 190 cm, and are located at a distance of 310 cm from gambling-table 1 which preferably has a diameter of 335 cm.
Figs. 9 and 10 show the central board 41 and one of the like side boards 42a and 42b, respectively. As can be seen, board 41 is divided into two like parts, the upper parts 411 having the function of a large screen showing the imagines of the matches shot by a camera not shown in the drawings and secured to the ceiling, and the lower part 412 consisting of several squares with the function of warning displays.
Side boards 42a and 42b are divided into four superimposed chequered parts 421, the highest of which is divided in turn into three parts placed side by side, all of such parts having the function of warning displays. The displays provide the players with the information concerning the development of all rounds of the game as previously described and as shown in Figs. 13-18. Advantageously, the large hall of the present invention has side ramps to allow particularly the moving trolleys to overcome the difference in level among the different areas of the large hall .
As self-evident from the preceding description, the large hall of the invention permits orte hundred and sixty players accommodated at the four gambling-tables 1 and the twelve stands 2, 3 to take part to the game but, as can be seen in Fig. 19, some rooms accommodating further people, other play facilities, such as bets, four central cash- desks and the relative services may be also provided.
The present invention has been described with reference to a preferred embodiment but it should be understood that equivalent modifications can be made by anyone skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present industrial invention.
