Abstract

A circuit (10) for extending the operating time of a battery (14) is provided. A power source, typically a battery (14) or other portable voltage source, is cyclically connected into a tuned circuit (12) that includes a load (16). The circuit (20) includes a means for switching the voltage source into and out of the circuit (10). The switching means also provides an alternate conduction path during the time the voltage source is not connected to the circuit (10) so that current, and hence energy, can flow through the load (16). In this manner, the battery (14) is actually in use for brief intervals of time while the load (16) receives a constant energy supply from the circuit (10).
