Abstract

A method and system for establishing a direct connection between at least two users having access to a registry server located on a global network. The method includes registering a first IP address associated with a proxy server with a registry server. The proxy server being locally connected to at least one first user station. The method also includes receiving a request from a second user station to communicate with the first user station and transmitting the first IP address to the second user station by the registry server. The method also includes establishing a direct communication link from the second user station to the first user station via the proxy server using the first IP address without having to connect to the registry server.
