Description

Glaselement Glass element
The invention relates to a glass element, the flat back of which is provided with an adhesive layer comprising a hot-melt adhesive for sticking to a textile base in particular.
Known glass elements of this type are consistently mirrored on the back, for example by vapor deposition with an aluminum layer, which can be covered by a protective layer made of chrome. There is an opaque primer between the reflective coating and the transparent hot melt adhesive to impart adhesion between the melting pusher and the protective layer.
AT 360 627 B). The known glass elements can be ironed on individually. If a pattern is to be formed with the stones, however, it is common to connect the stones in the form of this pattern on the front with a carrier film. Such devices for applying patterns, in particular from cut glass stones, to textiles have been known for a long time (cf. AT 360 627 B). Coating the decorative elements with a hot melt adhesive is essential for their manufacturing process. For coating, the elements are attached to a carrier tape and coated together with liquid hot melt adhesive by means of a coating roller. After the adhesive has cooled, the stones can be manipulated individually and can be connected in a pattern with a carrier film. After removing a protective film covering the adhesive surfaces during transport, the carrier film and the elements attached to it are placed on the base such that the back of the elements provided with the adhesive lies against the base. Applying heat and pressure, usually by ironing, activates the adhesive and bonds it to the surface.
In contrast, the invention enables combination effects between the color of the textile substrate and the refractive properties or the color of the glass elements by providing that the back of the elements and the adhesive layer are transparent. Based on the known glass elements provided with hot-melt adhesives, the mirroring must first be omitted. In particular, it must then be ensured that the entire adhesive layer is transparent. For this purpose, it is not only necessary to use a transparent hotmelt adhesive, such as those known to the person skilled in the art in the form of copolyamides, but above all that which is currently customary
Da die Haftvermittlung nun nicht mehr zwischen einem Metall und dem Schmelzkleber erfolgt, sondern zwischen demTo replace the primer, which previously determined the color of the back of the glass elements, with a transparent material. Since the adhesion is no longer between a metal and the hot melt adhesive, but between the
Glass element itself and the hot-melt adhesive are recommended as such adhesion promoters (primer) organosilicon compounds.
The invention enables not only an interaction between the color of the textile substrate and the refraction effects of the glass element, but also between the color of the substrate and the color of the elements. These can consist of colored glass in the usual way or can be provided with a selectively absorbing metallic layer. A particular advantage of the invention is, however, that the fact that the mirroring on the back of the glass elements is eliminated means that coating the elements with interference-generating dielectric layers becomes significantly more effective. In this case, the appearance of the glass stones is characterized by a combination of reflection colors of the coating of the glass element with the color of the substrate, which in turn undergoes changes through the coating when the glass element is transmitted (color mixing of the substrate and transmission colors of the coating) and through refraction of light in the glass element . The optical appearance of the glass element also varies not only with the color of the surface, but also with the viewing angle, which is a specific property of the coating which works on the interference principle.
Heute übliche Beschichtungen bestehen aus abwechselnden 'IΛ -Schichten aus TiO2 bzw. SiO2. Coatings common today consist of alternating layers of TiO 2 or SiO 2 . In contrast, the color quality can be improved and new colors can be generated if the condition is given that all layers must have a thickness of λ / 4 of a common reference wavelength .
Details of the invention are described below using an exemplary embodiment. In this shows Fig. 1 is a schematic side view of the device according to the invention, Fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view.
The device shown for transferring decorative patterns to a base corresponds to the state of the art in that a large number of glass elements 1 are connected to a carrier film 2. The carrier film 2 can consist of polyester and can be coated with a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive.
The glass elements 1, which can also be sold and used individually, have an adhesive layer 3 on their flat back. This consists essentially of a hot melt adhesive, an extremely thin layer of a suitable organosilicon compound being provided between the latter and the glass. A protective film 4 protects the adhesive layers 3 during transport. It is removed before the pattern is applied to a textile base, then the glass elements 1 are connected to the base by application of heat and pressure and the carrier film 2 is removed, whereby a pattern is produced, for example according to FIG. 2. The adhesive layer 3 also holds the glass elements 1 in place when a piece of clothing stuck to it is treated in a washing machine up to temperatures of 60 ° C.
What is new about the glass elements 1 shown is, above all, the fact that the back is not mirrored. Although this reduces the intensity of the reflected portion of incident light, on the other hand it enables the color of the textile base 5 to be emphasized through the glass elements 1.
The invention enables the use of coating techniques known per se for coloring the glass elements 1. If, in this sense, interference-producing thin layers (TiO 2 and SiO 2 are customarily applied) to the surface of the stones, the glass elements are colored much more intensely when viewed from above than in the presence of a mirrored back.
Gegenüber herkömmlichen Glaselementen, die mit etwa 5 interferenzbildendenCompared to conventional glass elements with about 5 interference-forming
Layers are vaporized, the color quality can also be improved by selecting the number of layers to be relatively high (7-15 layers). Around To keep the coating duration and costs within limits, it makes sense to make individual layers much thinner than a quarter of the wavelength whose transmission is to be minimized.
