Abstract

A monitored redundant switch apparatus provides an improved isolation between selected and unselected signals while using as few detectors as possible. The switch apparatus is capable of simultaneously and continuously monitoring both selected and unselected signals. The switch apparatus can be controlled remotely. In one embodiment, the switch apparatus includes a plurality of switches switching between primary signals and backup signals, a first detector coupled to monitor a condition of the selected signals, and a second detector coupled to monitor a condition of the unselected signals.
