Abstract

Circuitry and method for a communications receiver are disclosed. The circuitry comprises means for estimating an impulse response of a communications channel for a signal received by a receiver, and signal processing means for processing the signal in accordance with a conjugate mirror image of the impulse response. The processing means outputs a processed signal which is symmetrical about a real-valued central maximum power lobe. The central lobe provides a convenient trigger signal for synchronising receiver timing with a received signal.
