Abstract

The invention provides methods and reagents for the treatment of a microbial infection or decontamination of a microbial surface contamination, particularly those characterized by a population of persistent or tolerant cells such as occur in biofilm and certain planktonic bacterial populations. The invention is further directed to methods of identifying microbial tolerance gene targets and antagonsits of these microbial tolerance gene targets as well as for identifying microbial intolerance gene targets and agonists of these microbial intolerance gene targets.
