Abstract

When electrical lamps, for example hand lamps (10), are used in explosion-prone locations, numerous safety-related aspects have to be observed. In the utilization of hand lamps (10) it is especially important to prevent the electrical contacts from producing sparks that could come into contact with explosive substances. To this end, the invention provides a hand lamp (10) in which a housing (11) and a light source (12) define a space in which contacts that are prone to produce sparks are hermetically enclosed, thereby preventing sparks that might be produced from coming into contact with the ambient explosive medium. The inventive device provides a simple and reliable anti-explosion protection.
