Abstract

A method of providing weather information to an aircraft includes collecting weather information at a data center, transmitting the weater information from the data center to an aircraft via a telephony communication link, and graphically displaying the weather information onboard the aircraft. A system for practicing this method includes a data center where weather information is collected, a telephony network, linking the data center to an aircraft, over which the weather information can be transmitted from the data center to the aircraft, and a graphical user interface onboard the aircraft, which allows a user onboard the aircraft to view a graphical presentation of the weather information.
