Abstract

Es wird ein neues Verfahren zur Regelung einer Pumpeinrichtung eines Faserverstärkers beschrieben, mit der ein übertragenes Wellenlängen-Multiplex(-WDM)-Signal durch wenigstens eine Aufteilung von Ausgangsleistungen mehrerer Pumpquellen zur Erzielung einer günstigen Rauschzahl des verstärkten WDM-Signals (S) bei einer variablen erforderlichen Gesamt-Pumpleistung verstärkt wird. Die Aufteilung der Ausgangsleistungen wird mittels Aussteuerungskennlinien jeweils für die Pumpquellen in Abhängigkeit der zur Verstärkung erforderlichen Gesamt-Pumpleistung erfolgen. Durch die Aussteuerungskennlinien werden die jeweiligen Inversionen im Faserverstärker derart bestimmt, daß eine minimale Rauschzahl für alle Kanäle des WDM-Signals bei konstantem Gewinn erzielt wird.
