Abstract

A universal energy supply system for at least one electrical consumer comprises at least one AC voltage source and a cable connection connecting the source with the electrical consumer, wherein an AC/DC converting means is assigned to the AC voltage source for converting the AC voltage into DC voltage which DC voltage can be supplied to the electrical consumer via the cable connection. To improve such a universal energy supply system in that with small constructional efforts and with low costs, the energy supply to an electrical consumer is guaranteed also over great distances and the corresponding voltage supply is stabilised, the efficiency being relatively high at the same time and the system being redundant, the AC/DC conversion means comprises a number of AC/DC converting units which are connected in parallel with the AC voltage source on the input side and are serially connected to the electric consumer on the output side, each converting unit being constructed as a blocked switch mode power supply.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS[received by the International Bureau on 15 September 2003 (15.09.03); original claims 1-14 replaced by amended claims 1-13 (3 pages)]
1. Universal energy supply system (1 ) for at least one electrical consumer (2) comprising at least one AC voltage source (3) and a cable connection (4) connecting the source with the electrical consumer (2), wherein an AC/DC converting means (5) is assigned to the AC voltage source (3) for converting the AC voltage into DC voltage, which DC voltage can be supplied to the electrical consumer (2) via the cable connection (4), characterized in that the AC/DC converting means (5) comprises a number of AC/DC converting units (6) which are connected in parallel with the AC voltage source (3) on the input side and are serially connected to the electrical consumer (2) on the output side, each converting unit (6) being constructed as a clocked switch mode power supply (7), wherein each individual AC/DC converting unit (6) can be controlled or regulated separately with respect to its output voltage.
2. Universal energy supply system according to claim 1 , characterized in that the switch mode power supply (7) is designed as a primarily clocked flyback converter (8).
3. Universal energy supply system according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the flyback converter (8) as a clocked switching means (9) comprises at least one transistor, in particular power MOSFET or BIMOSFET.
4. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the switching means (9) is controlled to clock a particularly controllable or adjustable pulse modulation means, in particular pulse width modulation means. 17

Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the output voltage of the switch mode power supply (7) is adjustable to any value up to a limit value below the breakdown voltage of a component of the switch mode power supply, in particular the switching means (9).
6. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the clock frequency of the switching means (9) is within the range of a few kilohertz, in particular in the range of a few hundred kilohertz.
7. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least a few of the clocked switch mode power supplies (7) are phase-shifted in their clock frequencies relative to one another.
8. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a controller (14) is assigned at least to the AC voltage source (3) and/or the AC/DC converting means (5) and/or a data signal coupling/decoupling means (13).
9. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a filter means (12) is arranged between AC/DC converting means (5) and electrical consumer (2),
10. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the data signal coupling/decoupling means (13) is wired to the cable connection (4) between, in particular, filter means (12) and electrical consumer (2). 18
11. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a communication connection is established by the controller (14) between the respective means (2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 , 12, 13) of the energy supply system (1).
12. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the AC/DC converting units comprise a power factor control means (16) and/or an undervoltage detection means (17) and/or an overcurrent monitoring means (18).
13. Universal energy supply system according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the cable connection (4) comprises at least one coaxial cable (15).
