AN OUTDOOR DEHUMIDIFYING ILLUMINATED DISPLAY - ©fcP-
This invention is concerned with the advertisement and promotion αispiay panel constructions for outdoor use.
Because of economical reasons, especially paper placards are used at outdoor advertisement and promotion panels. Although paper has an economical superiority, it is an unsuitable material for additions and modifications outside, especially in seasons with higher humidity. Because paper is a material, which is effected very quickly by humidity and changes to unwanted shapes like getting wrinkled or crinkled.
When it is obligatory to use paper placards in conventional panels, it is essential to protect the paper placards from atmospheric effects. At first, a placard is protected against rain with secure glass plates. If the placard is mounted in a panel and a good sealing is provided, it is very likely that no problems will occur due to climate conditions like rain and snow. However, the temperature and the moisture difference of the air in the panel construction and the air out of the construction will cause other problems to occur. In this case, the panel constructipn will protect the placard from moisture and other effects of the outer air, but due to the condensation of the air moisture in the construction, waving will happen on the placard inside the panel.
The outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention, ensures the removal of the humidity in the air inside the panel and thus prevents possible wrinkling (crinkling) of the placard due to moisture.
The explanations of the figures (pictures) given in the appendix, which was prepared for a better understanding of the outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention are given below.

Below you will find the detailed clarification of the above listed solutions. Ventilation of the panel
The placards used in outdoor display panels are made of paper. During the mounting of the placards, the placards get moisturized due to the humidity of the air. Moisturized placards will be damaged. The humidity of the outer air infiltrates inside the panel during placard mounting ore due to insufficient panel sealing. After mounting the placards, when the panels are closed, together with the paper placards, humidity will be imprisoned in the panel and this humidity will cover the surface of the placards later on. If this humidity cannot be eliminated, the placard will absorb the humidity in the panel. Moisture, and the problem of moisture concentration in outdoor display panels, which is a matter many experts are working on will occur. Waves will take place on the moisturized placards and patterns on the placards will become unapparent. In such situations the person/company who gave the advertisement in the panel will complain.
Any person in the outdoor advertising business, who can guarantee his customers dry placards in the panel, will take advantage in the same level.
To keep the paper placards in the panel dry at the outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention, the ventilation of the panel is realized by the use of aerodynamic profile forms and the utilization of heat sources. During a slight wind, the inside part of the panel achieves an under pressure, which creates a circulation, which again is ventilating the panel. The climate zones in the panel have different temperatures. With under pressure natural ventilation is achieved, which keeps the inside of the panel dry.
The heat sources in the panel, for the thermal air circulation, are located in such a way that they dry up the paper placards.
There are gofrages inside the light plate material for transmitting the light. These gofrages are working like convectors inside the panel. They are wrapping the fluorescent bulbs and the electronic transformers. The heat provided is transmitted to the desired chambers in the panel (climate zone 1 and 2). In this way, two heated chambers, climate zones (1 ) and (2) and as a cold zone, climate zone (3) occur at the right and left side of the panel constructions. Climate zone (0) is heated up and dried with the placard chamber climate zone (1 ) by means of air circulation. With the hotness provided from the constant heat, this chamber has a great effect on the panel ventilation.
The water condensation occurs outside of the placard chamber. It can flow down inside the main profile and the climate zone (0). The water condensation takes place at the edge profile, which is at the circulation profile end. T TR03/00010
Air passage
When a paper placard is mounted inside a panel and the panel doors are locked, a circulation starts due to the softening air, and depending on this, in the same manner as in thermal and physical theory calculations. Four different climate zones (0, 1, 2, and 3) occur in the panel constructions. Although, the temperatures in these climate zones (0, 1, 2 and 3) are different during night and daytime, the heat developments of these climate zones are equal during night and daytime.
This means, the air in the climate zone (3) is cooler than the air of the other climate zone and consequently due to physical reasons, the direction of the air is being preset.
The climate zones (0 andl) have the highest temperature within the panel during night and daytime. The climate zones (2) and (3) have always less heat compared with the climate zones (0 and 1).
Hot air can carry more humidity i.e. it is more moisturized and is ascending. Whereas cold air carries less humidity i.e. it is dryer and descending.
In this way different pressure ratios occur in the climate zones of the panel.
These physical features are utilized to eliminate the moisture in the panel.
Functions of the Invention
The paper placard is mounted in to the placard place (11) within the climate zone (0) of the panel and the door (cover) is closed. Thus, the moist air is compressed in the panel. Even a moist placard can be mounted.
Due to the temperature difference between the climate zone (0) and the other climate zone (1) and with the assistance of the collapsible profile, the moist air will go towards the other climate zone (1). From there, the air in the gofraj will go along the climate zone (2).
The heated air will rise upwards. With the sunbeam heating up the climate zone (0) during the day, air circulation will start.
If illumination is used during night operation, a heat source, equivalent to "central heating bodies", at the right and left side of the climate zone (0) will come in to being and thus the paper placard will become free from moisture.
With the help of the ballast (7) , the fluorescent bulb (9) and the gofrage, the heating of the air inside the climate zones (1 and 2) is ensured.
The moist hot air at the upper right and left panel sections can change with the cool air of the climate zone (3). Condensed water accumulation in the inner wall of the climate zone (3) will be the result. This condensed water ensures further cooling of the brush profile climate zone(3).
The condense water accumulated due to ventilation and the compressed upper surface water will flow without any obstruction from the climate zone (3). The compressed upper surface water and the condense water will cool the climate zone (3).
If the illumination is put in to use short after the door (lid) is closed, it may help to set the air circulation in motion. This will cause the circulation to start immediately. Without use of active illumination, increasing the normal heat will set the circulation in the panel.
Lower (main) panel profile (4)
With the panel door shock absorber and by means of the mechanical features of the panel door security, the lower profile of the outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention, ensures also the suction of the air from all climate zones.
The lower panel profile, which is encircled in a width cross section, is constructed likely to be compared with a model plane profile.
This profile, with its aerodynamic features, has in the middle of the profile depth a position, which is bearing the highest pressure. To connect the climate chamber (3) in the profile to the under pressure, which is achieved with a slight air motion, a profile has to be opened at this position.
The aerodynamic shape of the lower panel profile shows its function with a slight motion of the outer air. The panel profiles located at the upper corners and at the lower right and left, the direct upper and lower horizontal panel base profiles, the pressure of the climate zone (3) at the panel base profiles are connected to the climate zone (2). The connection is made in such a way that air circulation is provided and the water is conveyed to climate zone (3). This means - between the section, where the in climate zone (3) compressed upper surface water is transferred, and its connection, boreholes and the ventilation of the panel. Ventilation section
The function of the openings at the ventilation section is to convey air.
The mounting bolts, which are necessary for the connections between the panel base profiles and for the hidden steel construction inside, are closing the ventilation section.
Panel wing profile (5) T TR03/00010
The panel wing profile (5) is a lathered aluminum profile and has an important role in panel constructions.
A protective glass - an outer glass (13) is mounted on the panel wing profile (5). As an example, the panel doorplate is adhered or screwed to the panel wing profile. An insulation between the panel glass (13) and the climate chamber comes into being. These are static reception surfaces for the shock absorbers and keep the temperature of the climate zone (1) high and are heating with fluorescents.
If the cross section of the panel wing profiles is not strong enough to accept the load of the shock absorbers, the profile has to be reinforced with steel material. Brush section
The brush section (15) is fixed into the base profile. It has bristles made of stainless material. Thanks to this, it can store the condensed water better.
The first cooling of the climate zone (3) is achieved thanks to the absorption temperature at the brush section at the outer edge panel base profile. Closed shock absorbers
For an easy placard mounting, a secure and stable door with a shock absorber or a mechanical device with a opening of at least 65 degrees is necessary.
The opening of the door can be horizontal or vertical.
By the opening of panel doors the only necessity is to avoid the entrance of upper surface water, dust and mosquitoes.
A secure lock should protect the placards from theft.
State
The desired door openings of advertising panels in cities are horizontal panel doors, which open upwards. Because this protects the placard from rain during mounting.
Here it is usual that the shock absorbers in the middle of the panel door are supported with summer pressure adjusted shock absorbers. When the panel door is opened for placard mounting, the crosswise positioned absorbers are obstructing the passing field of the placard mounting surface. Thus, the usual positioning of the absorbers is hindering the person who is changing the placard and causes loss of time. If the panels are set up in waiting rooms or indoors, tne opening uι trie αuur should be horizontal at the inner side of the waiting room and vertical at the outer side. Because an up ward opening door is an advantage in rainy conditions at outdoors.
The closed position of the shock absorbers allows free passing to the working surface during placard mounting. If the stability of the panel wing profiles is insufficient the panel wing profile has to be stabilized with steel material or with big angle irons.
At the outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention, thanks to the horizontal positioned low strength upper shock absorber the panel door is supported. Thus allowing free passage.
In this invention the shock absorbers are mounted at the upper panel section between the panel door and the panel frame or in a vertical position between both panel doors.
If the power of the shock absorbers is insufficient to open the panel doors with support, two small shock absorbers can be mounted (additional) vertically at the upper field between the panel frame and the panel door.
The two additional shock absorbers will not restrict the passing field.
Placard mounting system
The placards are fastened with a three piece magnetized folding profile at the upper edge of the elite glass (12).
The magnetic collapsible profiles are equipped with low resistance springs. After removing a placard these springs keep the profile open for the mounting of a new placard. The opening, of the magnetized folding profiles, provided with the spring allows the placard monitor to slide on the elite glass after mounting. The magnetized fastening is spit into three parts at the sample figure.
The placard is fixed with the magnetic fastening section.
Balance aid
On the placard mechanism, printed (pressed) or shaped marks are located at the base section, which ensure a parallel mount of the placard. On the right and left side, the placard mechanism at the placard stretching section determines the direction.
If the placard is fastened to the placard mechanism from the upper side, the side edges of the placards located at the right and left edges of the elite glass, are placed under the collapsible profiles. The collapsible placard profiles will stay at an angle of 30 - 40 degree after they opened, thanks to the spring force of the panel door. If the placard does not slide by itself under the collapsible profiles, than the collapsible placard profile and the placard mechanism has to be pushed and the placard is positioned with the other hand under the collapsible placard profile.
Collapsible placard profiles
Thanks to the collapsible placard profiles the placard is kept on the right and left side. When the panel doors are locked the rubber (probably a gear belt), with its specific structure, is grasping the placard and may achieve in this way a suction of climate zone (0) and the air between the placard and the rubber (gear belt) towards climate zone (1). The collapsible placard profile ensures the purification of climate zone (1 ) from moisture. For this reason, the collapsible placard stretching profile has long breaches on its movable section.
Smooth placard mounting surfaces (11)
The light plates are milled in a reasonable manner to suit the strength of the base profiles where the placards are mounted.
The section where the placard is mounted is a freely milled surface on the elite glass. It is glued on the upper surface band or it is chipped up to "0" at the base section mounting surface (11) direction. After the placard is balanced, the collapsible profile with magnetos in the middle (17) is opened with a finger to stabilize the placard.
Dependent on this, the upper edge of the placard is fastened to the placard mechanism straight and tightly and the placard is placed on the elite glass (12) surface. If the placard is positioned straightly on the elite glass, the person who is changing the placard touches the collapsible magneto profile at the right and left side. Thus, the placard is secured with the toothed belt under the collapsible profile (17), which is stretching the placard on the right and left side. Here, the elite glass (12) is milled around the frame profile material or it is skid on to the base profile, then the placard is fastened from the top and attached to the elite glass at the right, left and lower side. The rubber tips at the door will put pressure on the collapsible profile when the door is closed. The collapsible placard profiles will pull the placards in a horizontal direction to the right and left, thus an even and slight pressure is performed on the placard, which stretches the placard.
Ventilation of the placard chamber
Looking from the ventilation point of view, new developing at the four climate zones becomes a current issue.
The climate zone (1) is fluorescent channel with the highest heat development during nighttime. P T/TR03/00010
The climate zone (2) is the chamber where the electronic transformer is placed. These electronic transformers in this climate zone are generating heat with the help of the gofrages, which are in the EVG and the fluorescents.
The heat of the fluorescents and the electronic transformers are stored in the adjacent steel gofrage.
The panel wing profiles (5) are positioned with a short distance towards the steel gofrages. The inside of the wing profiles are filled with foamy insulation material. Thus, with the additional heating of the climate zone (1), a good insulation is provided between the climate zone (1) and the outer plate. The gofrages between climate zone (1) and climate zone (2) and the distances between the panel door profiles should be as low as possible. This distance is determined with the sealing of the outer diameter.
The heat of the fluorescent channels in climate zone (1) is at its highest level when the illumination is in use. This is a results of the high heat values of the fluorescent channels and the good sealing of the panel door profiles. The fluorescents are heating up the channels they are in. The heated air ascends in the fluorescent channels. This channel has within the panel a thermal function like a chimney and appropriate radiator.
This leads to success in panel heating.
For the air circulation in the panel, thermal functions are used and the heat storage function is used as heat support for the fluorescents.
The thermal motion of the air inside the panel has an effect like a vacuum cleaner used to dry the placard chamber i.e. climate zone (0).
Since the radiated heat and light is reflected back to the fluorescents, the steel reflectors are supporting the high fluorescent heat development. With this constructions the efficiency and the life of the fluorescents do increase.
Storage of the out coming heat and the insulation of climate zone (1) increases the ability of fluorescents to cool down at low temperatures.
Climate technical structure
During daytime, the panel gets heated due to the sunbeams in climate zone (0) The climate zones are getting cooler and cooler to the outsides and thus the purification of climate zone (0) from moisture is realized during daytime by its own.
At nighttime the climate zone (1) is heated rapidly up with the fluorescents. The climate zones (2) and (3) are at nighttime cooler at the outer sides this makes it functional to purify the climate zone (0) from moisture.
Reflector technigue
Steel reflectors polished to a high shining degree are placed in such a way to reflect systematically the light beam produced by the fluorescents from the light strengthening surfaces of the angled and polished elite "rams".
Lock system
The aim of producing placards is to ensure persons i.e. the target mass, to talk emotionally about them. As a result the advertisement achieves its target and people talk positively about the consumption item or the service subject to the advertisement.
Sometimes display panels are broken and placards are stolen. Various lock systems are available for panel designs.
Turning locks, hock locks, ring locks, tassel locks, spring locks and magneto locks have been considered to stop theft.
All these locks are giving results according to their capability and to days panel doors are protecting with secure bolts the placards against theft.
If someone wants to open a panel, which has a bolt lock, this person will need a strong tool for difficult doors.
Panels are very much damaged because of forced opening the door. To display the next placards in a safe way in a locked panel, the panel owner has to pay for repair.
Many insurance companies are showing effort to guaranty the costs of display panels against theft. In this invention a lock system is also included to protect the placards from theft and the doors from damage due to forced opening.
Function
The lock is located at the lower part inside the panel. This lock system can be used with the time in the furniture industry, or for example at sport boats or caravans. It can be considered also for secure locking of drawers and doors. In new inventions, these locks are used depending to the desired holding (lift) force. The person who changes the placards opens the panel with a suction cup.
Different sizes of this tool are available. This tool is used during assembling in the industry and during transfer of the panel. The person who changes the placards places the suction cup on to the panel and pulls the panel door with the aid of this suction cup.
Crack guaranty of the panel
Every one in the outdoor advertisement business knows the problems in this field. In connection with the number of cracked (damaged) (broken) panels a person in the advertising business can easily recognize the popularity of placards from the last ten years.
If someone takes the risk of penalty, and has the will to, he will succeed to damage the panels.
The level of panel damages depends on how great the resistance of the panel locking technique is.
To protect the panel against damage, a panel protection device, good looking to placard theft, has to be mounted on the panel. In this case the placard thief can open the panel by force without damaging it with screwdrivers or other tools.
Fluorescent heating The fluorescent is a heat source in the panel.
The sources of this heat energy in the panel are the fluorescent channels i.e. the fluorescents located in the climate zone (1). The thermal air motion in the climate zone (1 ) causes dust suction in the climate zone (0).
Panel door closing edge
The door edge has the same principle as electric cupboard doors have.
This means, when opened the panel door separates from the gasket plane and gives position to the turning axis inside the panel in such a way that even load is applied on the gasket plane.
Only with the structure (shape) of the closing edge is it possible to keep the gap between the panel frame and the panel door small.
Climate chamber cleaning system Since the panel has a thermal and aerodynamic circulation and due to a shorter air exchange duration with the brush profile the climate chambers are to be cleaned probably ones a year.
If the brush profiles are filled with street dust and small insects a special cleaning will be necessary.
To perform the cleaning of the climate chambers pressurized air is applied in to the close panel. For this purpose a ventilation nozzle, which is controlled from outside with a lever, is fastened above climate zone (3) on to the panel. The person who changes the placards (placard mounter) opens this nozzle with a compressor and ventilates the climate zone. In this way he disperses the heavy air and removes the dust and the insects from the brush profile.
The use of elite glass
One of the most important physical inventions of the outdoor dehumidifying illuminated display, which is developed with this invention, is elite glass (12). Plastic plates, Fa.ROM.GS 9001 for example are used. Material with similar features are available. The features of this material are; to illuminate the edges, which are surrounded with light, with light. To transmit light, fed with elite glass, through material and to give it evenly to the surface, which is 90 degree in angle. Thus a homogeneous light surface is provided.
Panel types with similar illuminating techniques can be found within other panel designs.
Just like all new developments, the aim here is to achieve a good result.
Equipment supports like the smoothening of the upper surface of light strengthening surfaces and the light transmission angle of elite glass edges (balance) do, just like white light transmitting surfaces (extruder) belongs to them.
Light strengthening surfaces of elite glass
At light strengthening surfaces by means of light breaking the light reflected from the fluorescents parallel to the elite glass reflecting surface, light strengthening surfaces have been opened for elite glass to collect its light.
The surfaces collecting the light inside have been opened for a better light strengthener, which brightens the light at the cross section surfaces.
Extruder (light reflecting surface) T TR03/00010
Two elite glasses are mounted in the panel. White colored plastic plates (separators) (14) with high reflecting features are placed in between the elite glasses.
The light, which is transferred from the side to the elite glass, is directed within an angle of 90 degree and conveyed to the related side. The white plastic plate should strengthen the transmitted light to the desired direction. The light gained on the relevant plastic surfaces is increased by means of the extruder.
