Abstract

A retaining wall system and method for constructing same using a combination of anchoring elements connected to retaining wall panels (12) and extending into fill (14) behind the wall to counteract overturning forces. Flat, or sheet-like elements (19) are used, and also strips or other narrow elements (16) where a vertical or other obstruction (24) in the fill hinders placement of the flat elements. Both types of anchoring elements may be connected to a single panel, or to various panels of the retaining wall system.
