Abstract

The present invention provides systems and methods for facilitating the fair, efficient, and economical cross-border exchange of depositary receipts (DRs) (1) and their underlying ordinary shares without the need to withdraw existing DRs or issue new DRs. Clients enter exchange orders (7) in this invention's systems which implement methods for finding pairs of orders between which DRs and ordinary shares may be exchanged. Then share exchange transactions are created for two or more matching orders, and these transactions are further processed by this invention's system and methods so that local (15, 17, 19) and non-local depositories and custodians are properly instructed and monitored to perform the required share exchanges according to their local procedures.
