Abstract

The invention provides an integrated user interface for use as a display in a cellular telephone or other communications or other device. A stack of printable layers may be deposited onto one surface of a programmable visual display. The invention may include an electro-luminescent layer to provide backlighting to the display. It may further include a pressure-sensitive, carbon-ink based layer to accept user inputs. This assembly may duplicate the functions of a more complex and costly user interface on a flexible, inexpensive, printable assembly.
