Le problème du fluage de la matière adhesive dans la fabrication d'étiquettes est déjà évoqué dans FR 960.839, qui préconise, d'une part, de ménager des zones longitudinales non "gommées" (c'est-à-dire des réserves longitudinales exemptes d'adhésif) sur la bande support, en enduisant de "gomme" (matière adhesive) la totalité de la surface de la bande support et en raclant la gomme déposée dans les zones longitudinales. Les zones longitudinales non gommées sont choisies de façon à s'étendre chacune entre deux rangées longitudinales d'étiquettes, de sorte que chaque étiquette adhère à la bande support en une zone centrale et présente des bords longitudinaux opposés dépourvus de gomme.
