Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for inputting control signals in a computer-based simulated table football game according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Computer-based simulated table football games are known from the prior art, in which the playing field, the players and the ball are displayed on a screen. As with a purely mechanical table football game table, the players are arranged in rows of positions. The associated poles can also be displayed on the screen. In order to move and rotate the displayed position series, control data are entered via a computer mouse, a conventional computer keyboard, a joystick or a conventional control for game consoles. Either two users can play against each other or only one user against the computer. These computer-based table football games can be played on almost any personal computer, but the operation is simple difficult. The operation of a keyboard differs fundamentally from the operation of the bars of a purely mechanical table football game table.
- buttons are provided for the user to control the figures by hand. Most of the time, the characters are only moved parallel to the playing field. The button must be pressed several times until the character is in the desired position. If a character and the ball meet, the ball bounces off the character in a way that is determined by the software used. Kicking or kicking the ball by a playing figure with a force or torque input by the user is not possible in simulated soccer games of this type.
- the device according to the invention with the features of claim 1 has the advantage that the input of the control data takes place in an identical manner to the movement of the position rows mechanical table football game table.
- Rods are provided in the housing either for each row of positions of a team or for each row of positions of both teams. These are slidable and rotatable in the housing. The translation takes place in the axial direction and the rotation around the axis of the rods.
- the displacement path is limited by limits on the bars. Rings or disks on the rods inside or outside the housing can serve as limitations.
- the displacement paths of the different bars can be different.
- the goalkeeper can only be moved in front of the goal, for example.
- the displacement of the pole assigned to the defenders or the strikers can be greater than that of the midfielders.
- the length of the displacement path is either identical to that of mechanical table football or a little shorter. However, it is chosen so that the operation of the bars is comparable to that of mechanical table football.
- Two or more bearings are provided on the housing for each of the rods.
- the bars can be rotated 360 ° or more about their own axis. No stop is provided. As with a mechanical foosball table, the rotation is not limited.
- Two sensors are provided on each rod, which detect the translation and rotation of the rod.
- the sensors determine the absolute position of the rod with respect to a predetermined zero point by continuously scanning the rod or an encoder on the rod by mechanical contact coupling or without contact.
- the absolute position of a rod is made up of an angle of rotation and a displacement path. Both values refer to the specified zero point.
- the electrical signals belonging to the positions are forwarded to the computer via the interface.
- the corresponding position of the Playing figures of the foosball table are then displayed on a display device, for example a computer screen.
- the movement of a bar can be converted into an identical movement of the game figures assigned to the bar on the display device in the device according to the invention. Suitable software is provided for this.
- the simulation of the foosball table is therefore very close to the reality of a mechanical foosball table.
- the perception of the player when operating the bars is no different from the perception of playing with a real table football. From the position of the rod, in particular from the set displacement path, the player can recognize the position of the game figures without looking at the display device.
- the sensors allow the absolute position of the rod to be determined at any point in time with respect to a predetermined zero point. Depending on the type of sensors, either the absolute value with respect to the zero point is measured, or the relative displacement between a start and an end position is measured. In the first case, the position of the rod follows directly from the measurement. At most, it is still necessary to convert the measured variable, such as the current, into a path or angle. In the second case, the absolute position of the rod must be calculated from the relative displacement and the starting position. This calculation can either be carried out by the computer to which the device is connected, or the device can be equipped with a separate computer for this purpose.
- the speed and acceleration can be calculated from the various positions by forming the first and second derivatives over time.
- special sensors can also be provided.
- the representation of the game figures and the ball displayed on the display device of the computer to which the device is connected can be either two-dimensional or three-dimensional. It depends on the software.
- the control device according to the invention supports both three-dimensional and two-dimensional representations.
- the device according to the invention allows both two users to play against one another and one user to play against a computer-controlled opponent.
- a corresponding number of rods is provided. These can either be housed in one housing or in two housings. If only one user plays against the computer, half the number of bars is sufficient.
- Two devices provided for a user's game can also be coupled to one another or to a computer in such a way that two users can play against one another.
- the data entered into a computer via the device according to the invention can also be transmitted to other computers via a computer network. If the data is exchanged via a computer network, the two users playing against each other can be at different locations.
- the device In a table football game, four rows of positions and thus four rods are usually provided for each team. However, this number can vary.
- the device can therefore be equipped with correspondingly more or fewer rods.
- the device according to the invention can be manufactured inexpensively. It is suitable for use in private areas as well as in publicly accessible arcades or bars. It can therefore be offered on the home PC market as well as for commercial users.
- the rods of a team are arranged side by side and parallel to one another.
- the ends with handles protrude from one side of the housing. If necessary, the rods can be removed from the housing or disassembled into smaller units when the device is not in use. Poles with a telescopic structure are also suitable for this.
- Devices according to the invention for playing two users against one another likewise have rods arranged parallel to one another and next to one another, the ends of which protrude outwards on two opposite sides of a housing.
- a brake is provided on the rods to delay the rotation of a rod in one direction up to the blockage.
- the brake is connected to the computer via an interface in order to trigger the brake by the computer when there is a certain game situation in the simulated table football game. This situation occurs when the ball is caught between a character and the field. With a mechanical foosball table, the user can only turn the bar belonging to the character in one direction. The rod is blocked in the other direction of rotation. Moving the rod is possible. In order to haptically simulate this situation for the user in the device according to the invention, the brake is triggered by the computer.
- potentiometers are provided as sensors. Gearboxes are provided on the rods to trigger the potentiometers.
- the transmission can consist, for example, of gears and a toothed rack.
- optical rangefinders are provided on the housing as sensors. Transducers are arranged on the rod to trigger the range finder.
- a disk can be provided on the rod perpendicular to the axis of the rod.
- a disc can be provided on the rod, which has a pattern, for example a bar code.
- an inclined or eccentric to the axis of the rod Disc arranged to the axis possible.
- the optical or mechanical elements known from computer mice are suitable as sensors for determining the position of the rods. Elements such as balls or wheels are used, or the distance covered is determined optically.
- the sensors are stationary while the rod is moved relative to the sensors.
- the principle is based on a relative movement between the sensor and the surface or rod and can therefore also be used here. Since the relative displacement path is determined, calibration to a predetermined zero point is necessary to determine the absolute position of the rod. This can be done automatically when the device is switched on.
- the rods of the device according to the invention can consist, for example, of plastic, metal or a composite.
- the end actuated by the user is advantageously provided with a handle.
- FIG. 1 shows a device for inputting control signals for a computer-based simulated table football game in a perspective view
- FIG. 2 view of the device for inputting control signals according to FIG. 1 from above with the housing open
- FIG. 3 section through the device according to FIG. 2 at the point marked A-A in FIG. 2,
- Figure 4 representation of the simulated table football on a screen.
- FIG. 1 shows a device for inputting control signals for a computer-based simulated table football game in a perspective view.
- a housing 1 In a housing 1 four rods 2 are slidably and rotatably mounted. The ends of the rods, which are operated by a user, not shown in the drawing, are equipped with a handle 3.
- Rods 2 and handles 3 have a circular cross section. For easier usability, the handles 3 have a larger diameter than the rods 2.
- the rods 2 are passed through the housing 1 such that both ends of the rods 2 protrude from the housing 1.
- the walls of the housing 1 have 2 openings for the rods.
- the openings are provided with a bearing 4 for the rods 2.
- the bearings 4 ensure that the rods 2 can be easily moved and rotated.
- balls or rollers can be provided in the bearings, for example, on which the bars roll or slide.
- the balls or rollers are not recognizable in the drawing.
- only openings can be provided in the walls of the housing, the cross section of which is only slightly larger than the cross section of the rods. This gives the bars enough play to move and rotate.
- FIGS. 2 and 3 show the devices according to FIG. 1 in a view from above and from the side with the housing 1 open.
- the rods 2 and the bearings 4 can be seen in this illustration.
- the illustration shows the potentiometers 7 and 8 and a transmission for transmitting the translation and rotation of the rods 2 to the potentiometers 7 and 8. All four rods are equipped with the same transmission and the same potentiometers 7 and 8.
- the second rod from the left in FIG. 2 shows the potentiometer 8 for determining the translation of the rods, while the remaining three rods only have the potentiometer 7 for determining the rotation of the rods.
- all four gears are shown identically.
- the gears consist essentially of gears and a rack.
- a gear wheel 9 is provided on the rods 2 for transmitting the rotational movement of a rod to the potentiometer 7.
- the potentiometer 7 is attached to a slide 10. This in turn is connected to a gear 11 which engages in the gear 9. A rotational movement of the rod 2 is thus transmitted to the potentiometer 7 via the gears 9 and 11.
- racks 12 are attached to the housing. These run parallel to the rods 2.
- the potentiometer 8 is attached to the carriage 10. It engages the rack 12 with a gear 13. When the rod 2 is displaced, the potentiometer 8 is displaced relative to the rack 12, as a result of which the potentiometer 8 is actuated via the toothed wheel 13 rolling on the rack 12.
- Figure 4 shows a representation of the foosball table on a screen. It is a three-dimensional representation.
- the playing field 14 with the playing field boundary 15, the playing figures 16 with the associated rods 17 and the ball 18 can be seen on the screen.
