Description

Description SMARTCARD EQUIPPED WITH FLASH MEMORY, USB DEVICE EQUIPPED WITH THE SMARTCARD, AND MOBILE DEVICE USING THE SAME Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a smart card equipped with flash memory, a USB device equipped with the same and a mobile device using the same, and more particularly to a smart card capable of being used in an existing mobile device having an existing smart card socket or a USB port by providing a flash memory and a USB device to an existing smart card, a USB device having the smart card and a mobile device using the same. Background Art
[2] In general, a smart card is provided with information about various authentications, a credit card for payment and a bankbook, etc. to allow a mobile communication terminal having the smart card to be used as a transportation card or a credit card. The smart card also serves as an electronic bankbook, such as an account inquiry, transfer, a withdrawal and a check inquiry, etc. In addition, a mobile communication terminal is provided with a local communication module to embody a payment through a wireless communication.
[3] An integration of the smart card and the mobile communication terminal is also applied to a filed of using the smart card as a subscriber identity module so as to provide a roaming service of the mobile communication terminal. As the smart card for the subscriber identity module, there are, for example, a subscriber identity module (SIM) card, a universal subscriber identity module (USIM) card, a user identity module (UIM) card and a removable user identity module (RUIM) card, etc.
[4] In the mean time, mobile devices such as a mobile communication terminal and a MP3 player, etc. are required to scale-up a storage capacity thereof, as the functions thereof are gradually diversified and expanded. For example, in the case of a mobile communication terminal having a digital camera function capable of taking a photograph and storing an image, there is needed a high capacity memory in addition to an inherent storage capacity provided to the mobile communication terminal, so as to store data of a picture or moving picture data photographed by the digital camera. However, when a separate high capacity memory is mounted in the mobile communication terminal for a high capacity memory used for the additional functions, it can increase a size of a main body thereof as well as a price of the mobile communication terminal. [5] Accordingly, according to the prior art, instead of directly mounting a high capacity memory in the mobile communication terminal, a socket for mounting a memory card or smart card is provided to the mobile communication terminal so that a user can mount a memory card (for example, Multi-Media Card, Security Digital Card, Memory Stick, etc.) or smart card in the socket according to the user's taste.
[6] Like this, as the functions of the mobile communication terminal are more expanded and diversified, there is needed a socket for mounting a smart card so as to mount and detach the smart card to and from the mobile communication terminal and a socket for mounting a memory card so as to mount and detach the memory card to and from the mobile communication terminal, and a user mounts a card, which is suitable for a function which the user needs, to a corresponding card mount socket.
[7] However, when the two different card mount sockets (i.e., sockets for mounting the smart card and the memory card) are provided to the mobile communication terminal, it increases a size of a main body thereof as well as a price of the mobile communication terminal. In addition, as the mobile devices that are recently released have various functions, various functions such as MP3 player, digital camera, voice record functions are added to it and thus there is desperately needed a high capacity storage medium so as to store the data thereof.
[8] In the mean time, as a storage space of the mobile device is enlarged, there is needed a more rapid data transfer rate. The existing mobile device exchanges the data mainly with a main unit of a computer. At this time, a cable is typically used to connect the mobile device and the computer. So far, USB 2.0 communication is mainly used to increase the date transfer rate. However, in order to support the USB 2.0 in a main controller of the main unit, it takes a long time to develop it, a volume of the main unit becomes larger and power consumption is also increased.
[9] In addition, since the existing mobile device is provided with a flash memory therein which is a storage space, it is not easy to expand the capacity and it should change the terminal itself to expand the capacity. Accordingly, various terminals, to which a memory is mounted to add a capacity as it is desired, are recently released. However, a product using the existing memory card requires a reader capable of reading and writing a card and a cable for connecting a main body of the mobile device and the computer. Additionally, since the existing mobile device (for example, a MP3 player) performs a USB 1.1 communication (12 Mbps), a downloading rate is very slow.
