Abstract

An optical alignment system (102). In an embodiment, the system (102) includes an optical emitting device (112) for projection an optical indicator onto a workpiece surface area. Further, a lateral arm may be coupled to the optical emitting device (112) for supporting such device. In addition, a vertical support (126) is constructed to receive the lateral arm (122) allowing the lateral arm (122) and optical emitting device (112) to cantilever over the workpiece surface area. Moreover, a securing mechanism for securing the vertical support (126) to the workpiece surface area such as a horizontal platform (134) may be included. Additionally, at least one optical emitting housing (118) which substantially encloses the optical emitting device (112) is present for operationally coupling the optical to the lateral arm (122). The at least one optical emitting device housing (118) is configured so that the optical emitting device (112) may cantilever above the workpiece surface area and project a line-of-cut indicator onto the workpiece surface area.
