Abstract
The invention relates to a vertebral column implant that can be used between two adjacent cervical vertebral bodies. Said implant comprises a first implant part (2) that can be implanted in a cervical vertebral body and a second implant part (3) that can be implanted in the neighbouring cervical vertebral body. The rear face of the first implant part (2) comprises a bearing surface for the bones, at least part of said surface being provided with a three-dimensional open-meshed net structure (4). The front face of said part comprises a convex surface (7). The rear face of the second implant part (3) likewise has a planar bearing surface for the bones, at least part of which is provided with a three-dimensional open-meshed net structure (4'). The front face of said part comprises a concave surface (8) corresponding to the curvature of the surface (7) of the first implant part (2). Both surfaces (7, 8) co-operate in an articulated manner in such a way that they can execute medial/lateral and dorsal/ventral displacements in relation to one another.
Description
Halswirbelsäulenimplantat cervical spine implant
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Halswirbelsäulenimplantat. The present invention relates to a cervical spine implant.
Hier zeigen bekannte Implantate deutliche Defizite.Such implants are known and in use. The problem with these implants is the limited mobility of the cervical spine after implantation. Mostly natural movements like nodding or shaking the head are often limited. The greater the mobility of the implant, the more stable the secondary fixation of the implant must be in order to be able to absorb the forces occurring. Here, known implants show significant deficits.
Against this background, it is the object of the present invention to provide a cervical spine implant that allows the greatest possible freedom of movement with a secure anchorage.
This object is achieved by a cervical spine implant having the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are specified in the subclaims.
The cervical spine implant according to the invention has a first implant part to be implanted in a cervical vertebra and a second implant part to be implanted in the adjacent cervical vertebra. The first implant part has on the back a planar support surface for the bone, which is at least partially provided with a three-dimensional open-mesh spatial network structure, and on the front side a curved surface. The second implant part also has a flat support surface for the bone on the back, which is at least partially provided with a three-dimensional open-mesh spatial network structure, and on the front side one of the curvature of the surface of the first Implant part according to concave surface. Both surfaces of the implant parts act together in the manner of a joint, in such a way that they can perform each other movements with medial-lateral and dorsal-ventral components.
The cervical spine implant thus acts like a joint that allows all natural body movements of the patient. The prerequisite for this is a secure fixation in the cervical vertebrae. For this purpose, the respective planar bearing surface of both implant parts with the three-dimensional open-meshed spatial network structure is used. Bone trabeculae grow into and through this spatial network structure and ensure a secure secondary fixation. Bone material organizes itself into the spatial network structure after implantation and thus forms the basis for safe secondary fixation.
Another measure is suitable according to an advantageous embodiment, to direct the loads even deeper into the respective cervical vertebrae. Thereafter, it is provided that both implant parts have at least one backward extending from medial to lateral Arretierungssteg. For the implantation, a corresponding groove must be milled into the respective cervical vertebral body, into which then the bar or struts can be inserted. The proportions are to be chosen so that the one or more webs can be taken in the groove or grooves, whereby a certain primary stability is generated.
According to a preferred embodiment it is provided that in the curved surface of the first implant part, a curved insert is inserted as a sliding partner for the concave surface of the second implant part. By analogy, it can be provided that in the concave surface of the second implant part, a second insert as a sliding partner for the curved surface of the first implant part is admitted. Through these measures, the joint character of the implant is lifted even more. This embodiment offers the possibility of producing the mutually running surfaces of a different material than the remaining parts of the implant parts, which are usually made of a biocompatible metal. The inserts as sliding partners offer the possibility of different pairs of sliding partners.
Preferably, both inserts may be made of metal, if this is a metal powder as starting material, which is sintered in further steps.
It is also possible that an insert of metal and the other insert is made of polyethylene. This mating is known in particular from hip arthroplasty.
Another possibility is that both inserts are made of ceramic.
A still further embodiment provides that at least one insert part consists of a metal coated with a glass ceramic layer. The variant that both inserts are made of the thus coated metal is possible.
It is also conceivable that an insert consists of a ceramic composite material. At this point, let us think of a composite material with ceramic components in a polyurethane matrix.
Hierbei zeigt:The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment according to the drawing figures. Hereby shows:

At the rear, both implant parts 2 and 3 are provided with a three-dimensional open-meshed spatial network structure 4 or 4 ' , in which bone trabeculae of the bony surfaces following implantation are organized, thus ensuring long-term stability. The front side of the first implant part 2 is provided with a curved surface 7, whereas the second implant part 3 has a concave surface 8, which is adapted to the curvature of the surface 7. In the curved surface 7 of the first implant part 2, a curved insert 5 is inserted as a sliding partner for the concave surface 7 of the second implant. In the illustrated embodiments, a second insert 6 is inserted into the concave surface 7 of the second implant part 3 as a sliding partner for the curved surface of the first implant part 2 or of the insert part 5. The inserts 5 and 6 are made of materials that are matched to each other to the joint function of the overall implant positive to influence. It is to be thought of the lowest possible friction, as well as the lowest possible abrasion of the material.
Figures 2 and 3 complete the picture as a whole. FIG. 2 shows the plan view of the first implant part 2 from FIG. 1, whereas FIG. 3 shows the plan view of the second implant part 3 from FIG. 1.
Both implant parts are almost kidney-shaped and adapted with this outer contour of those of the cervical vertebrae.
