Abstract

A lighting fragrance system (1) comprises an atmosphere device (2) comprising a light source (3). The light source is connected to an electrical supply cable (9) and is controlled by lighting control means (11). The atmosphere device (2) further comprises a fragrance emitter (14) connected to duct means (16) which in its turn is connected to a plurality of fragrance reservoirs (18). The fragrance emitter (14) and the fragrance reservoirs (18) both are connected to a fragrance control means (20) for controlled dispensing of the selected fragrance. Via the control means (11, 20) each light source (3) and each fragrance emitter (14) can be controlled independently of the other light and fragrance sources. Depending on the spatial arrangement the atmosphere device (2) can very suitably be used for creating an immersive experience.

Description

Lighting fragrance system and atmosphere device
The invention relates to a lighting fragrance system comprising: an atmosphere device comprising, at least one light source; at least one fragrance emitter for dispensing fragrance from a fragrance source to be connected to the fragrance emitter; a control device comprising, lighting control means for control of the at least one light source; fragrance control means for control of the at least one fragrance emitter. The invention further relates to an atmosphere device.
Such a system is known from US20030012018A1. The system is designed for the task of creating an atmosphere provider element of the generic type that can be used flexibly and which can be integrated into an existing room structure. Depending on the lighting needs in the room, the special requirements for the illumination and the desired optical effect, several regularly and irregularly arranged light sources can be provided within the known system. The known system has several colored light sources which are each individually influenced in their intensity, wherein the color temperature of the emitted light can be controlled. The known system further has a control device, via which optical and/or fragrance effects can be achieved, and via which the atmosphere of the room can be influenced. Through corresponding control means, a coordination of the optical and fragrance effects can be achieved. It is a disadvantage of the known system that the atmosphere provider element is relatively bulky as a result of the integration of the fragrance source with the light source.
It is an object of the invention to provide a light fragrance system of the type mentioned in the opening paragraph in which the abovementioned disadvantage is counteracted. Thereto the system of the type mentioned in the opening paragraph is characterized in that the system further comprises duct means for the supply of fragrance from the fragrance source to the fragrance generator. The system is thus enabled to disintegrate the relatively big fragrance source, which comprises a fragrance storage reservoir, from the light source and to position the fragrance source at a location remote from the light source and where it is not disturbing or visible to persons present in the room.
Hence, the system is enabled to limit the size of the atmosphere device to practically the size of the lighting element only. In this respect it is noticed that the duct means have a relatively small size compared to the fragrance source, for example in that the duct can be integrated with the electrical supply cable which is used for the supply of electricity to the light source. The fragrance emitter can be relatively small too, as it needs only to form an end part of the duct, for example a spray nozzle or a shutter. It is very convenient to integrally provide the light source with the fragrance emitter, or in the case of a plurality of lighting elements is used as the light source, to provide each lighting element with a respective fragrance emitter. Preferably, to obtain a high level of control of the atmosphere settings, each fragrance emitter can be switched independently of both other fragrance emitters and of the light source, of its respective lighting element or of the other lighting elements.
In one embodiment the lighting fragrance system is characterized in that the light source is a solid-state light source. Solid-state light sources, for example Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) or Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs), can be relatively small. It is thus enabled to further reduce the size of the atmosphere device. Practical experience revealed that a LED can very suitably be used in this invention. The LED can be a (single) white LED to allow the light source to have a very small size, but alternatively and preferably the light source is a combination of three LEDs, i.e. a blue LED, a green LED and a red LED. Said combination enables the user to control the color temperature of the emitted light to a high level, depending on the local lighting needs in the room. In the 1931-CIE-chromaticity diagram, these primary colors will form a triangle and all the colors within this triangle can be generated by adjusting the ratio of the intensities of these three primary light sources. This particularly makes possible the choice of a wide range of color temperatures of white light, from cold light - like the light of a halogen type of lamp - to warm light - like the light of conventional light bulbs. This is applicable to all kind of light sources. Examples are incandescent lamps, HID-lamps, low mercury pressure discharge lamps, and LEDs; but the invention is not restricted to these examples.
In another embodiment the lighting fragrance system is characterized in that the light source is a plurality of lighting elements, for example a string of lighting elements. Each lighting element is optionally provided with a respective fragrance emitter. The plurality of lighting elements, optionally in combination with the respective fragrance emitters, enables the user to control the lighting/atmosphere needs in a room even up to a higher level. Then, not only the local lighting and/or atmosphere needs can be controlled but, depending on the amount and spatial arrangement of the lighting elements and fragrance emitters, so can the lighting/atmosphere settings be controlled for a relatively large part of the room or even for the complete room. LEDs are light sources that can very suitably be used as lighting elements in a string arrangement (LED string), which string can, for example, be guided along corners and walls of the room, each LED thus acting as a lighting element. In the case each LED is provided with a respective fragrance emitter, said LED string enables the user to go through an immersive experience of light and fragrance.
In a preferred embodiment the lighting fragrance system is characterized in that the fragrance source is a plurality of fragrance elements. Said plurality of fragrance elements enables the user to adjust the emission of a selected fragrance to the atmosphere created by the lighting setting. Each fragrance source can be used solely and independently of the other fragrance sources, but can also be used together with one or more of the other fragrance sources to create various odor spectra. The fragrance sources may for example comprise natural odors, for example the odors of flowers, plants, soaps, shampoos or perfumes, for example the odor of roses, lavender, orchids, freshly/mown grass, sea water, coffee, freshly/baked bread, Chanel No.5, Anaϊs Anaϊs etc.
In still another embodiment the lighting fragrance system is characterized in that the control device is pre-programmed with pleasant atmosphere settings which comprise combinations of lighting colors with fragrance spectra. The lighting color and intensity together with the fragrance spectrum and intensity is pre-arranged or programmed in such a way that illogic, incoherent and/or unpleasant combinations of lighting and fragrances are avoided. For example an illogic combination might be the fragrance of freshly/baked bread with the lighting setting corresponding to a warm Mediterranean evening, or the combination of the smell of freshly/baked bread with the smell of freshly/mown grass. It is alternatively possible to pre-program very pleasant combinations of lighting and fragrance, for example the combination of a sunset/rise lighting-setting with an odor of coffee. Said pre-programmed combinations enables a control of the atmosphere setting up to a still higher level and counteract that unpleasant combinations are made. The control device comprises lighting control means and fragrance control means via which each light source and each fragrance emitter can be controlled independently of the other light and fragrance sources. The control device may for example be a microchip which can be addressed and controlled in a wireless way. The control device can very suitably be used to distribute tiny amounts of fragrance in a room/space.
The invention further relates to an atmosphere device for use in any of the abovementioned lighting fragrance systems and comprising at least one light source and at least one fragrance emitter.
These and other aspects of the invention will be apparent and will be elucidated by way of non- limitative examples with reference to the drawings and the embodiments described hereinafter.

In Fig. 1 a lighting fragrance system 1 is shown. The system 1 comprises an atmosphere device 2 comprising a light source 3, in the Figure a halogen lamp, having a filament 5 as a light emitting part. The light source 3 is fitted into a socket 7 which is connected to an electrical supply cable 9 for the supply of electrical energy to the light source 3. The light source 3 is controlled by lighting control means 11. The atmosphere device 2 further comprises a fragrance emitter 14 connected to duct means 16 which in its turn is connected to a plurality of fragrance reservoirs 18. The fragrance emitter 14 and the fragrance reservoirs 18 both are connected (directly or indirectly) to a fragrance control means 20 for controlled dispensing of the selected fragrance. The lighting control means and the fragrance control means together form the control device. The control device can for example be a simple switch, a microchip, a remote control system, or a personal computer. The fragrance emitter comprises a spray nozzle 22 with very small openings 24 for emission of the fragrance. Fig. 2 shows a first embodiment of the invention which comprises as a light source a string 51 of LEDs 53, each LED acting as a light element. Each LED 53 has a socket 55 provided with a fragrance emitter 57. The LEDs are mutually connected via wire portions 59 of the electrical supply cable and the fragrance emitter is connected to the duct means 61 for supply of the fragrance. The electrical supply cable and the duct means are integrally formed into one cable 63. The control element is a microchip 65 and is provided in the socket 55. The microchip is addressed in a wireless way, for example via a signal transmitted by a remote control (not shown).
In Fig. 3 a room 101 with walls 103, a floor 105 and arris 107 is schematically shown. An atmosphere device, in Fig. 3 a LEDs string 109, is provided along the arris between the walls 103 and the floor 105 of the room 101. The string 109 is arranged in such a way that light originating from the LEDs is directed to the walls 103, thus giving a pleasant overall ambient lighting of the room 101. Due to the spatial arrangement of the string 109 over the arris 107 of the room 101, a desired fragrance can instantly be dispensed through the entire room. Thus an immersive experience for persons being present in the room 101 can be realized. A reservoir for fragrances 113 is stowed away in one of the corners 111 of the room 101 and out of view for persons present in the room. The atmosphere device is controlled via a control device 115, in Fig. 3 a shift-switch attached to one of the walls 103.

Claims

CLAIMS:
1. Lighting fragrance system comprising: an atmosphere device comprising, at least one light source; at least one fragrance emitter for dispensing fragrance from a fragrance source to be connected to the fragrance emitter; a control device comprising, lighting control means for control of the at least one light source; fragrance control means for control of the at least one fragrance emitter, characterized in that the system further comprises duct means for the supply of fragrance from the fragrance source to the fragrance emitter.
2. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the light source is a solid/state light source.
3. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the light source is a white LED, or a blue, a green and a red LED.
4. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the light source is a plurality of lighting elements.
5. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that the light source is a string of lighting elements.
6. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the light source is a string of LEDs.
7. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the light source or each individual lighting element has a respective fragrance emitter.
8. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 7, characterized in that the duct means is integral with an electrical supply cable for the at least one light source.
9. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the fragrance source is a plurality of fragrance elements.
10. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in claim 7, 8, or 9, characterized in that the fragrance emitter or each individual fragrance element can be switched/controlled mutually independently and can be switched/controlled independently of the light source or any individual lighting element.
11. Lighting fragrance system as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control device is pre-programmed with atmosphere settings which comprise combinations of lighting colors with fragrance spectra.
12. Atmosphere device for use in a lighting fragrance system according to any one of the preceding claims, the atmosphere device comprising: at least one light source; - at least one fragrance emitter for dispensing fragrance of a fragrance source to be connected to the fragrance emitter.
