Abstract

A network data reporting system (100) particularly adapted for use in transportation systems. Cameras (122), microphones (108), and other sensors (108) as well as existing vehicle systems are networked to a central controller (106), which receives and processes audiovisual/other data from the cameras (122) and sensors (108). Raw and processed information is stored in removable memory (146) which may be mirrored to fixed local memory (144), which can also store programs and other system data. The controller (106) may be ruggedized to meet disaster recovery requirements. Control panel (104) can be placed throughout the vehicle for use by the crew to monitor conditions and respond to them. Information can be sent to a ground station (200), which may also exhibit control over the network data reporting system (100). The system (100) is suitable for use in all manner of transportation systems, such as aircraft (300), drains (400), and ships.
