Abstract

The present invention provides surgical instruments that emit a detectable fluorescent signal distinct from autofluorescent signals from a tissue or instrument, and methods of using the surgical instruments, one or more fluorescently labeled and unlabeled immunoconjugates, and a visualization instrument for intraoperative immunofluorescent detection for cancerous tissue at both primary and metastatic sites, and fluorescent guided surgical manipulation and removal of such cancerous tissue. Kits comprising the surgical instruments, the fluorescently labeled and unlabeled immunoconjugates and visualization instruments for fluorescent imaging are also provided.
