Abstract

The invention relates to an installation for inspection and/or intervention, as by withdrawal of samples and/or treatment, in a mass (11) of bulk-stored powdery or granular material, said installation comprising a control unit (6) on the outside of the mass (11) of material to be inspected or treated, and a device (1) that can be moved through the interior of said mass (11) of material, this device (1), which is self-propelled and is connected to the control unit (6) by a cable (7), comprising on the one hand propulsion means either for independent movement of the device (1), generally along a predetermined path, or for movement controlled remotely from a monitoring workstation generally integrated into the control unit (6), and on the other hand means for collecting and optionally holding materials, for the purposes of intervention and/or data acquisition, for inspection purposes. This installation is characterized in that it also comprises at least one motorized cable (7) winder/unwinder (8) so that, as it turns, the cable (7) is automatically wound in or out.
