Abstract

A baccarat game is provided that can be played with a mandatory base wager and allows the player to place an insurance wager with advantageous winning hand to insure his/her base wager at fixed odds against an instant loss or either losing to an improved hand, an inferior hand or having the maximum nine (9) points and not getting paid when the opposing player or opponent improves also to nine (9) points, or when his opponent has the minimum of zero (0) point for all three (3) cards and the player having to draw/open a 3rd card resulting in getting also the minimum of zero (0) point and not getting paid. An advantageous winning hand defines as having at least one (1 ) point over the opposing hand and when the drawing of the next card by him/her or the opposing hand could, but not necessarily would, result in either an instant win or instant loss to him/her.

Description

BACCARAT GAME WITH INSURANCE BET
The present invention relates in general to casino card games, and more specifically, it relates to a baccarat game that allows a player to place an optional insurance wager aside from the main wager or base wager to insure a player having an advantage winning hand against loss or tie to the opposing player.
Baccarat is one of the many live table games played in casinos or gaming establishments. Baccarat uses a standard deck of 52 playing cards and is usually dealt from a shoe box having multiple decks that have been shuffled together prior to the beginning of play. The object of the game of baccarat is for the bettor to successfully wager on whether the banker hand or player hand is going to win, e.g. have a hand count or value, modulo ten, nearest to the target count or value of nine (9) points. The bettor receives even money for his wager if he selects the winning hand and loses his wager if he selects the losing hand. Because of the rules of play of baccarat and more particularly the pre-established draw rules, the banker hand has slightly higher chance of winning than does the player hand. Therefore, if the bettor wagers on the banker hand and the banker hand wins, the bettor must pay to the gaming establishment a commission (typically, 5%) of the amount the bettor wins. No commission is paid if the bettor successfully wagers on the player hand. The manner of play of baccarat is as follows:
A multiple number of decks of standard playing cards, 52 in number, are used; typically eight (8) decks are shuffled together and placed in a shoe box from which the cards are dealt during the play of the game. Each bettor makes a wager on whether the banker hand or player hand will win. After all the wagers are made, two (2) cards are dealt from the shoe box to the player hand and two (2) cards are dealt to the banker hand in alternate fashion. The cards are turned face-up and the values of the player hand and the banker hand are determined, modulo ten.
Aces count one (1 ); Kings, Queens, Jacks and Tens count zero (0) and the other cards count their respective face value. The suits (Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs) have no meaning in baccarat.
The highest hand value in baccarat is nine (9). All hand values range from zero (0) to a high of nine (9). If when the cards are added together, the total of the hand exceeds nine (9), then the hand value is determined modulo ten. For example, a seven (7) and eight (8) total fifteen (15), but the hand value is five (5). An Ace (1) and a nine (9) total ten (10), but the hand value is zero (0).
A two card total of eight (8) or nine (9) is called a "natural"; a two card total zero (0) is called a "baccarat". In certain situations in the play of the game, a third card will be dealt. The value of this third card is added to the total of the first two cards and a new hand value is established. Again if the new hand total exceeds nine, the hand value is determined by subtracting ten (10) from the total hand.
Prior to the deal, each bettor can place their wagers on player hand or banker hand. Whichever of the player hand or banker hand is nearest to a total on nine (9) is the winner.
Depending on the point total of the player hand and banker hand, one more card may be dealt to either the player hand, banker hand or both. The rules for determining whether a third card is dealt are fixed rules; there is no discretion for either the player hand or the banker hand on whether a third card is dealt.
The need arises for a baccarat game providing additional types of wagers over and above standard bets. In baccarat game, the hand which has the advantageous winning hand has a bigger chance of winning the game. Advantageous winning hand is a hand having at least one (1) point more than the opposing hand. However, the drawing of the next card by the bettor or the opposing player as the case may be could, but not necessarily would, result in either win or loss to him. The game should provide added interest to the bettor having advantageous winning hand of insuring his wager against losing or getting a tie with the opposing player. By the present invention, method of wagering on baccarat game with insurance bet is disclosed.
Accordingly, the main object of the present invention is to provide a method of wagering on baccarat game with insurance bet that allows bettor to place an insurance wager at fixed odds to insure an advantageous winning hand against an instant loss or either losing to an improved hand.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method of wagering on baccarat game with insurance bet that allows bettor to place an insurance wager to insure an advantageous winning hand having to draw or open a third card resulting in losing to the opposing inferior hand.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method of wagering on baccarat game with insurance bet that allows bettor to place an insurance wager to insure the advantageous winning hand of nine (9) of not getting paid when the opposing player also draw a third card adding to a total of nine (9) points.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method of wager on baccarat game with insurance bet that allows bettor to place an insurance wager to insure an advantageous winning hand of a bettor when the opposing player has the minimum of zero (0) point for all three (3) cards and the bettor having to draw/open a third card resulting in getting also the minimum of zero (0) point.
These and other features and advantages will become appreciated as the same becomes better understood with reference to the description, claims and drawings wherein: Figure 1 is the 1st part of the flow chart disclosing the incorporating of an insurance bet in game of baccarat;
Figure 2 is the 2nd part of the flow chart of insurance bet in game of baccarat; and
Figure 3 is the last part of the flow chart of insurance bet in game of baccarat.
With reference to the drawings, a baccarat game with insurance bet is shown. The baccarat game with insurance bet can be played by one or more players on baccarat game table. To start the game as shown in the drawings, one or more players select one of the player hand and banker hand as provided on the game table. The selected hand playing on either player hand or banker hand must place a base wager. This base wager is mandatory in order to participate in the game. The non-selected hand may be the dealer or an opposing player. As shown in the drawing, one or more players playing on either player hand or banker hand may place or have the option of placing an insurance wager on their respective selected hand (player hand or banker hand). This insurance wager is provided in the game to insure of an advantageous winning hand at fixed odds, in an anticipation prior to dealing of the cards, of the player playing on either player hand or banker hand of losing to the opposing player having a greater or improve hand. The insurance wager must not exceed half or 50% of the base wager. After the base wager and insurance wager are placed by the players on their respective selected hand, either player hand or banker hand, 1st four (4) cards are dealt, two (2) base cards each to the selected hand and non-selected hand in accordance with the house rules from deck or decks of playing cards in the shoe box. Under the house rules, 1st card is dealt to the player hand, 2nd card is dealt to the banker hand, 3rd card is dealt to player hand, and 4th card is dealt to the banker hand to complete the 1st four cards or two (2) base cards each to the player hand and banker hand. Once the 1st four (4) cards are dealt, the value of the two (2) base cards on the selected hand playing on either player hand or banker hand and non-selected hand are determined. The selected hand playing either on player hand or banker hand must have an advantageous winning hand of at least six (6) points total on the two (2) base cards in order for the corresponding insurance wager to qualify in place. If the selected hand playing on either player hand or banker hand does not have at least six (6) total points on the two (2) base cards, the insurance wager on the selected hand is returned. If both the selected hand and non-selected hand have the advantageous winning hand of at least six (6) total points on their respective two (2) base cards, an instant win or instant loss is determined by comparing the total points of both two (2) base cards on selected hand and non-selected hand. The player having a hand count or value, modulo ten, nearest to the target count or value of nine (9) points nearest to nine wins the game. In this case, if the selected hand either on player hand or banker hand losses the game, the insurance wager on selected hand is paid according to the payout scheme which will be discuss below while the base wager on selected hand is collected. On the other hand, if the selected hand either on player hand or banker hand wins the game, the insurance wager on selected hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand is paid with a ratio of 1 :1. In another case, if both selected hand and non-selected hand end up in a tie to nine (9) points, the insurance wager on selected hand playing either player hand or banker hand is paid according to the payout scheme while the base wager on selected hand is returned. In another case also, if both selected hand and non-selected hand end up in a tie on either six (6), seven (7), or eight (8) points, both the insurance wager and base wager on selected hand are returned as shown by reference numeral.
The payout scheme for the insurance wager on the 1st four (4) card is as follows:

If no instant win or loss arises after the 1st four (4) cards, the game continues. The insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand having six (6) or seven (7) points on total of the two (2) base cards with the non-selected hand playing on banker hand having to draw a 3rd card will remain and will continue to be in place. In this scenario, the selected hand playing on player hand has the advantageous winning hand. A 3rd card is dealt to non-selected hand playing on banker hand. If the selected hand playing on player hand has a total of six (6) points on the two (2) base cards and the non-selected hand playing on banker hand improves to seven (7), eight (8), or nine (9) points after drawing the 3rd card, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 3:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the non-selected hand playing on banker hand has a total of zero (0), one (1 ), two (2), three (3), four (4), or five (5) points after drawing the 3rd card, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 1 :1. However, if the non-selected hand playing on banker hand has a total of six (6) points after drawing the 3rd card resulting in a tie with the selected hand playing on player hand, both the insurance wager and base wager on selected hand are returned. In another case of the above-mentioned scenario, if the selected hand playing on player hand has a total of seven (7) points on the two (2) base cards and the non-selected hand playing on banker hand improves to eight (8) or nine (9) points after drawing the 3rd card, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 4:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the non-selected hand playing on banker hand has a total of zero (0), one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4), or five (5) points after drawing the 3rd card, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 1 :1. However, if the non-selected hand playing on banker hand has a total of seven (7) points after drawing the 3rd card resulting in a tie with the selected hand playing on player hand, both the insurance wager and base wager on selected hand playing on player hand are returned.
In 2nd scenario, if the selected hand on playing on player hand has five (5) total points on the two (2) base cards against the non-selected hand of four (4) total points on the two (2) base cards with the selected hand having to draw a 3rd card, an insurance wager can be placed only on selected hand playing on player hand at the option of the player since the selected hand on player hand has the advantageous winning hand. In this case, if the 3rd card drawn by the selected hand on player hand has a value of eight (8) points resulting to an instant loss to the non-selected hand playing on banker hand, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 2:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the 3rd card drawn by the selected hand on player hand is not eight (8) points but either two (2), three(3), four (4), five (5), six (6), or seven (7) points, a 3rd card will be deal to the non-selected hand playing on banker hand. In this case having both selected hand playing on player hand and non-selected hand playing on banker hand, which ever hand having a hand count or value, modulo ten, nearest to the target count or value of nine (9) points wins the game. If the non-selected hand playing on banker hand wins the game having a hand count or value more nearer to the target count or value of nine (9) points compare to the selected hand playing on player hand, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 2:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the selected hand wins the game having a hand count or value more nearer to the target count or value of nine (9) points, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand playing player hand is paid with a ratio of 1 :1. However, if both selected hand playing on player hand and non-selected hand playing on banker hand end up in a tie after both having drawn a 3rd card, both the insurance wager and base wager on selected hand playing on player hand are returned.
In 3rd scenario, if the selected hand playing on player hand has four (4) points on two (2) base cards against the non-selected hand of three (3) points on the two (2) base cards with the selected hand playing on player hand having to draw a 3rd card, an insurance wager can be placed only on selected hand playing on player hand at the option of the player since the selected hand on player hand has the advantageous winning hand. In this case, if the 3rd card drawn by the selected hand on player hand has a value of eight (8) points resulting to an instant loss to the non-selected hand playing on banker hand, the insurance wager on selected hand on player hand is paid with a ratio of 1.5:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the 3rd card drawn by the selected hand playing on player hand is not eight (8) points but either zero (0), one (1 ), two (2), three (3), four (4), five (5), six (6), seven (7), or nine (9) points, a 3rd card will be deal to the non-selected hand playing on banker hand. In this case having both selected hand playing on player hand and non-selected hand playing on banker hand, which ever hand having a hand count or value, modulo ten, nearest to the target count or value of nine (9) points wins the game. If the non-selected hand playing on banker hand wins the game having a hand count or value more nearer to the target count or value of nine (9) points compare to the selected hand on player hand, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 1.5:1 while the base wager on player hand is collected. On the other hand, if the selected hand wins the game having a hand count or value more nearer to the target count or value of nine (9) points, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on player hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand playing on player hand is paid with a ratio of 1 :1. However, if both selected hand playing on player hand and non-selected hand playing on banker hand ends up in a tie, both insurance wager and base wager on selected hand playing on player hand are returned.
In 4th scenario, if the selected hand playing on banker hand has four (4), five (5),' six (6), or seven (7) points on two (2) base cards and the non- selected hand playing on player hand should draw a 3rd card to improve its hand to beat the selected hand playing on banker hand, an insurance wager can be placed only on selected hand playing on banker hand at the option of the player since the selected hand playing on banker hand has the advantageous winning hand. In this case, if the selected hand playing on banker hand has four (4) points on the two (2) base cards and the non- selected hand playing on player hand improves the hand count or value to five (5), six (6), seven (7), eight (8), or nine (9) points after drawing the 3rd card resulting to an instant loss on the selected hand playing on banker hand, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on banker hand is paid with a ratio of 1.5:1 while the base wager on selected hand playing on banker hand is collected. On the other hand, if the non-selected hand playing on player hand is lesser than the selected hand or does not improve to five (5), six (6), seven (7), eight (8), or nine (9) points after the 3rd card is drawn resulting to an instant win on the selected hand playing on banker hand, the insurance wager on selected hand playing on banker hand is collected while the base wager on selected hand playing on banker hand is paid with a ratio of 1:1. However, if the non-selected hand playing on player hand has four (4) points after drawing of the 3rd card resulting in a tie with the selected hand playing on banker hand, both insurance wager and base wager on selected hand playing on banker hand are returned.
