Abstract

A lancet assembly which can be operated easily while assuring sterilizability of puncture element. The lancet assembly comprises a lancet structure, an outer casing having a rear end for holding the lancet structure by a spring element, and an inner casing having a holding member for latching the lancet structure to limit forward movement thereof. The holding member latches the lancet structure when the inner casing is inserted into the outer casing, and the spring element is compressed while maintaining the latched state by further insertion. When the inner casing is inserted furthermore, the pusher of the outer casing applies a force to the lancet structure under latched state. As a result, the cap is separated from the body and advances in the inner housing by further insertion to deviate from the track of the puncture element.
