Abstract

The invention relates to a luminous element with a substrate and a structure that is arranged adjacent thereto, preferably provided with a photonic crystal, surface texturing or a lattice, said structure being designed and dimensioned such that substantially monochromatic, visible radiation can be produced. Due to suitable dimensioning, high light output can be achieved with little effort, using more recent developments, such as photonic crystals. The light output can be increased while using less energy.
