Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a navigation system, wherein a route calculation unit calculates, using a route network database, at least one travel route leading from a starting point to a destination, wherein the destination is determined by the following method steps: a) capturing a situation data set having a plurality of attributes for describing the current user behavior, b) comparing the current situation data set to a plurality of identification data sets stored in a database, each having a plurality of attributes for identifying a specific user behavior in the past, wherein each identification database associated with at least one potential destination, c) automatically selecting at least one potential destination as a function of the result of the comparison between the current situation data set and the identification data sets stored in the database.
