Abstract
A sensor (20) for measuring the moisture and salinity of a material is disclosed herein. The sensor (20) preferably includes a soil moisture circuit (22), a soil salinity circuit (23) and a probe structure (21). The soil moisture circuit (22) includes a high frequency oscillator (24), a voltage meter (26) and a reference capacitor (29). The soil salinity circuit (23) includes a low frequency oscillator (25), a voltage meter (27) and a reference resistor (30). A third voltage meter (28) allows for voltage outputs to be measured to calculate soil moisture and soil salinity values.
