The proportioning of the superimposed digital portrait image of a person and the digital image of the eyewear is calculated by matching the size of the person's head circumference, the position of the person's eye line and the characteristic width size of the eyewear, another embodiment of the present invention is to provide a system which displays the digital image of the eyewear on the digital portrait of the person in a faster way, using Flash on(rollover) mat function, so the system user needs only to point to, and not click on the images of the eyewear with the computer pointer device, to virtually try them on.

Description

Computer network based, virtual try-on and displaying method for eyeglasses and sunglasses
Field of the Invention:
The present invention relates to a computer network based, virtual try-on and displaying system for eyeglasses and sunglasses (eyewear), on the one hand a method for precisely proportioning a person's digital portrait image and a digital image of an eyewear where the calculation of the proportioning is carried out matching the size of the person's head circumference and the width size of the eyewear, on the other hand a method for displaying the different digital images of eyeglasses and sunglasses on the digital image of the person's portrait in a fast way, using Flash on(rollover) mat. function.
The present invention could be applied for a virtual try-on application of companies selling, producing or advertising eyewear on the internet.
There are several previous methods for virtual try-on systems for eyewear like:
US Patent 6142628, PCT/JP99/00418, US Patent 6847383, US Patent 6944327, US Patent 6095650,
US 2001/0042028 Al, US Patent 5617155
The disadvantage of the previous methods is that the proportioning of a person's digital portrait image and a digital image of an eyewear is calculated matching the pupil distance of the person's eyes and the width size of the eyewear.
An other disadvantage of the previous methods that during the virtual try-on process the user have to click on each digital images of the eyeglasses or sunglasses with the computer pointer device
(mouse), which action - considering there may be hundreds of eyewear to try on - increases the duration of the try-on process unnecessary.
The aim of this invention is to eliminate these disadvantages, and to give a more precise result for users in the try-on system, to give an almost similar superimposed image of the person with the eyewear on like she/he would practically look like wearing the eyewear after purchasing it.
We have realized that try-on systems based on the pupil distance are not (can not be) accurate, as it is a medical measurement to diagnose the centre of the lens for prescription eyeglasses, consequently it can not give a certain source for proportioning in try-on systems.
There are people with wide head but the eyes close to each other and there are people with thin type head but the eyes are far off each other, which fact makes these kind of try-on systems incorrect and unreliable.
The present invention relates to the fact, that the final look of a person with eyewear on depends much more on the person's head size, so this method of the propotioning calculates by matching the the size of the person's head circumference and the width size of the eyewear, where the digital images of the eyeglasses and sunglasses have to be photographed by a general method.
The present invention also solves the difficulty of clicking on each digital portrait of the eyeglasses and sunglasses to try them on during a virtuall try-on procedure, and makes possible to display immediately the different eyeglasses and sunglasses on the digital portrait image after each other by only pointing on them with the computer pointer device (mouse), using a Flash on(Rollover) mat function.
