Abstract
Power management apparatus comprising a field module and a controller, the field module being configured to be coupled to an appliance and operable to measure a parameter indicative of an amount of power being consumed by the appliance, the field module further comprising a wireless transmitter for transmitting a signal to the controller indicative of the amount of power being consumed by the appliance, the controller being configured to determine whether the amount of power being used by the appliance indicates that the appliance is in an idle condition or a standby condition, the controller being arranged to transmit a power termination signal to the field module when it is determined that the appliance is in the idle condition or the standby condition, the field module being arranged to terminate the supply of power to the appliance upon receipt of the power termination signal.
