Description

DISS IPTIO
SYSTEM FOR DECIDING WHETHER AN ACTIVITY WOULD BE ORGANIZED OR NOT AND ITS TICKET PRICE THE RELATED ART
The present invention relates to a system which enables making decisions about whether an activity and/or purchase for large number of people such as concert, theatre, one-man show, other shows, parties etc. would be held or not.
THE PRIOR ART
Nowadays, there are some activities, which are held by gathering of many people. Here, people or institutions organizing the activity forms, plans, and provides the supply by means of determining the type/time, place, and price of demand by estimating the type, time, form, -and-price of the demand. However, these estimations can not surpass guesses made in the light of similar activities performed in the past.
While even determining the actual number of people in an organization is a huge problem, there are some patent applications about this subject.
For instance, patent no 2006/06603 is a patent about determining the number of people in an organization accurately. This patent is titled: "Mechanism of determining the number of audience in mass presentations" and its abstract is as follows: "the invention is the mechanism for determining the number of audience in places of mass presentations such as cinema, theatre etc. places, which is of great importance for movie distributors, statisticians and/or movie makers, and it is characterized in that; it comprises at least one camera (1) which has a system performing continuous monitoring in mass presentation places such as cinema, theatre etc., and which is placed at areas from where the mass presentation place can be seen all over, and at least one image processing and communication box (3), which evaluates all of the frames within the showroom obtained from said camera (1), determines the areas with the potential of presence of audience, counting the faces of said audience by means of using face shape and approximate face size data, and which is connected with said camera (1)." As can be seen, the present application can be used in obtaining data for the database about "when, how, and at what price" the activity planned should be organized. However, this structure wouldn't do more than providing a "guess" about the organization in the light of previous data.
Similarly, patent no 2009/01963 is presented in order to provide an accurate number of the people attending the organization. This patent is titled as: "System for determining, transmitting, interpreting, and verifying the number of participants" and its abstract is as follows: "The invention is the system of determining, transmitting, interpreting, and verifying the number of participants in cinema, theatre, opera, concert area, sport game, circus, performance center, exhibition, fair etc. indoor and outdoor areas, which is commercially significant for producers, distributors, organizers, and investors, and it is characterized in that; it comprises at least one "Counting Camera Mechanism" (B1 ) positioned at the "Entrance/Exit Areas" of said places to continuously monitor the area and a "Display Processing Unit" (B7) connected to each "Counting Camera Mechanism" (B1 ), which processes the display frames obtained from the "Camera" (B2) and thus determines the number of participants and presents these data to said people in detail by means of transmitting these data to a "Central Processing Unit" (B21 ), and also comprising count verification (B16) and display verification (B19) features to be used in case of objection".
As can be seen, this patent can be used for obtaining data for the database for planning "when, how, and at what price" the demand will be formed. This structure also wouldn't do any better than "making a guess" about the future organization in the light of 2006/06603 previous data.
In the light of the prior art data, since decision for providing the supply is given without knowing the demand of the customers such as "what, who, how, when, where, and at what price" they want; planning and formation of supply service without formation of demand due to "wrong guess of demand" causes financial loss. Some of the preliminary costs required for organization can be listed as making agreement with the performer, renting a place, arranging the place according to the contents of the organization etc. activities. If the supply is formed with the "costs that can not be met" by the customers, for instance, if a supply is formed with a ticket price of 50 TL, where customers consider a price of 30 TL, the customers would give up their demand and there would be loss due to the preliminary costs required for performing the activity.
Loss will occur as a result of planning that does not meet the "demand of the customers". For example, since supplies provided without considering the demands of customers about indoor-outdoor space, singles-couples, with/without alcohol etc. would not meet the demands of the customers correctly, the possibility that the supply wouldn't be consumed would cause financial loss due to preliminary costs required for holding the activity.
Loss will occur as a result of planning that does not meet the "organization holding time" demand of the customers. For example, since supplies provided without considering the time demands of customers such as weekend-weekdays, autumn-summer-spring-winter, daytime-night-time etc. would not meet the demands of the customers correctly, the possibility that the supply wouldn't be consumed would cause financial loss due to preliminary costs required for holding the activity.
Loss will occur as a result of planning that does not meet the "performer" demand of the customers. For example, since supplies provided without considering the demands of customers about from which performer they want to listen a rock, folk, pop music concert would not meet the demands of the customers correctly, the possibility that the supply wouldn't be consumed would cause financial loss due to preliminary costs required for holding the activity. As a result, the above said drawbacks and the inadequacy of the prior solutions about the subject have necessitated improvement in the related technical field.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
With the invention, first of all, "supply base conditions" are determined and all or combinations of the data of "what, who, how, when, where, and at what price" the customers demand are obtained and these "customer demands" are checked for whether they meet the "supply base conditions" or nott and in case the "supply base conditions" are met, the decision is made for making the research for the preliminary costs for organizing the activity.
With the decision-making system of the invention, the people or institutions or organizing the activity do not have to guess all or combinations of data such as which demand is made when, how, and at which price. The type of the activity is chosen by the customers, planned by the customers and even the ticket price of the activity can be controlled by the customers according to the payments made. While the number of people who will attend this activity is certain, their payments would be already made before they arrive at the area of the activity.
With the system of the present invention, plans would be made according to all or combinations of data of "what, who, when, where, and at which price" do the customers make demand.
Since the decision for the supply will not be made without knowing the demands of the customers; "wrong guess of demand" will not occur and thus loss due to planning and making those activities will not occur.
With the system of the present invention, it is aimed to prevent formation of supply where the "costs can not be met by the customers". As the number of people attending the activity increases, ticket prices will go down and in this case, although some of the customers may seem to give extra price in prepayment, they would get refund later on. For example, in case the organization is made with a price of 50 TL for the customers, as the number of people who will attend the activity gets closer to the maximum number of people who can attend the activity, the ticket prices will go below 50 TL and for the customers who made 50 TL payment, the difference between their first payment and the final price of the ticket would be refunded to them. Therefore, after organization of the activity becomes certain, if the customers try to increase the number of participants, the ticket prices would go down.
With the system of the invention, It is not possible to make plans except the type of plan "desired by the customers". Therefore, it is not possible to have loss as a result of planning fault. Indoor-outdoor, single-couples, with/without alcohol etc. demands will be made beforehand. Since the activity would be planned according to demands made beforehand, expectation of the customers would be met correctly. By means of making the supply certain with payment and payment guarantee, the possibility of not consuming of the supply is eliminated.
With the system of the invention, the demand of customers for the "time of holding organization" is gathered and the time of the organization is arranged according to the demands of the customers. For example, weekend-weekdays, autumn-summer-spring- winter, day-night etc. periods are planned according to the demands about time. Since the supply to be provided would meet the demands of the customers correctly, there is no possibility of not being consumed for the supply provided.
With the system of the invention, the activity is planned by obtaining the "performer" demands of customers. For example, the information regarding which performer the customers would want to see in a rock, folk music, pop star concert are obtained and planning is made accordingly. Since the determination of people and supplies would meet the performer expectations of the customers and since the supply would be presented by prepayment, the possibility of financial loss is eliminated.
In order to achieve above said advantages, the invention comprises a server, in which all or combination of the data required for holding the activity such as activity total cost, minimum number of people who will attend the activity, maximum number of people who will attend the activity, dates of making demand for the activity, maximum price per person for holding the activity, minimum price per person for holding the activity, the price band width between these prices and the number of bands are entered and supply base conditions are loaded.
A structure is present as operating on said server to display said supply base conditions and to enable customers make payment or give payment guarantee by entering the previously determined amount of money on the band that they will make payment. When the condition of: "The amount to be collected from the customers (X) > Total cost at which the activity will be hold" is met, the payment guarantees of the people at the lowest band meeting this condition and the bands above that band will be collected according to the amount to be paid by the people at the lowest band. Because, this is the situation that meets the total cost required for holding the activity. The activity will be announced through web site or any other means of announcement. In one embodiment of the invention, all or combination of the data about what, who, when, where, how, and at what price the activity will be are announced on the web site or any other announcement means. Customers make their selections among these announcements. In another embodiment of the invention, following the selections, the customers can see on the web site or through any other communication means all or combinations of the data about whether the activity will be hold or not, the conditions for its organization are met or not, and if not met, what are the conditions that need to be met. Moreover, following organization of the activity, they can follow the new and updated ticket prices by seeing the people who will participate.
In an alternative embodiment of the invention, according to the amount of total cost and price band width required for holding the activity, multiple numbers of price band widths are decided on and the bands are formed. These bands and band widths are announced through the web site or any other communication means. Both people and organizers can see the number of people gathered at the bands and can make changes in band width and the number of bands in order to facilitate increase of demand.
In another alternative embodiment of the invention, a structure is formed, wherein, after organization of the activity becomes certain, the ticket prices will go down as the number of people increases. This structure can be followed through the web page. Therefore, there is a structure, wherein up-to-date ticket price is found by dividing the total cost required for organizing the activity by the number of people who have joined on these bands and gave payment guarantee. As the number of people joining the system increases, the ticket prices are lowered.
The structural and characteristic features of the invention and all advantages will be understood better in detailed descriptions with the figures given below and with reference to the figures, and therefore, the assessment should be made taking into account the said figures and detailed explanations.

It would be beneficial to make some definitions before the detailed description of the invention. Activity: is defined as events performed by many people gathering at a place. These events include concert, theatre, one-man show, travel, tour, purchase etc. various events.
Customer demands: states the thoughts, emotions, desires, demands, and expectations of people who consider attending the activity.
Supply: includes all of the events to be hold in order to meet the customer demands related to above said activities. For example, considering a one-man show, it includes renting of a place to hold the event, choosing of the gagman according to customer demands and agreement with this gagman, and procurement of required sound, display, materials etc. tools for the show.
Supply base conditions: includes the required conditions for providing the supply such as maximum number of people to attend the event, minimum number of people to attend the event, and the number of minimum customer demand with prepayment meeting the total cost of the event etc.
In this detailed description, the novelty of the invention is disclosed for better understanding of the invention without forming any limiting effect. Figure 1 shows a schematic view of the present invention decision-making system for whether an activity would be organized or not. The system comprises a server (3) and a web site (4) operating on said server (3). Said web site (4) has a structure enabling people to enter data through the internet about the activities they want to attend, can see the supply base conditions for planned events, and make demand according to these sub- conditions.
All of the planned activity data or combinations of data such as what the activity is and by whom, when, where, how, and at what price the activity is held are presented to the customer through the web site or another way of communication (4). All these data are kept on a server (3). While the customers can update these data on the internet through a communication and data transfer means (5) by means of connecting the web site (4) themselves, data input can also be made through the web site (4) by somebody else when the communication means (5) is fax, e-mail etc.
All these notifications made by the customer are saved on the server (3) through the web site (4). The authorities planning the activity can access these registries found on the server (3) by connecting to the web site (4) through any device (5) that is connected to the internet and can perform the reporting process on electronic media.
Figure 2 is the schematic drawing of the operation steps of the decision-making system (100) found on the web site (4) and operating on the server (3). The activity desired to be organized starts with the announcement phase (200) of what the activity would be, who will be on the activity, how will the activity be, when will the activity be, and where will the activity will be. In the announcement phase (200), one of the written and/or audible announcement tools, for instance, internet and/or television and/or radio and/or periodic and/or non-periodic printed magazines and/or phone and/or fax and/or mobile phone message or calls etc. present or possible future communication devices (5) can be used. Following announcement of the activity (200), the phase of gathering of demand (300) of customers will be proceeded to. In case of having no demand or not enough demand for making the activity possible, the activity that is on announcement phase (200) will be cancelled. The conditions that will make the activity possible determine the supply base conditions. Supply base condition can be exemplified as total cost of the activity or the lower or upper limit for the number of people to be set by the artist or person who will perform on the activity or the owner of the place. Supply base conditions are defined by similar parameters to these. In these kinds of activities, generally, total cost of activity, minimum number of people to attend the activity and the maximum number of people to attend the activity are significant. In the phase of collection of customer demands (300), in the case of presence of increasingly continuing demands, the phase of preliminary supply research (400) comes next. According to all of the data or combination of the data obtained from the customers comprising: "the type of the activity, the person/people to attend the activity, the way of making the activity, the time of the activity, and the place of the activity", the required supply base condition data determination (500) is made. In addition to the data comprising the type of the activity, the person/people to attend the activity, the way of making the activity, the time of the activity, and the place of the activity, also the data about the price of the activity is recorded on the server (3) as a whole or as combinations of some of these data and the information regarding the activity organization base conditions are shared with the customers (600) through announcement on the web site (4). Among these data, the critical one is the relation between the general number of demand and the unit price. The minimum demand number required for the activity is entered into the system through the server (3) and can also be announced to the customers through the web page (4). The decision for announcement is optional. The minimum demand number required for the activity is shared (700) and the customers are allowed to see this number. Minimum number of people can be at least 1. Afterwards, the phase of request for payment (800) comes.
The decision for organizing the activity is made after a series of calculations and assessments. In order to be able to organize the activity, the total cost (A), the minimum number of people required to attend the activity (B), and the maximum number of people required to attend the activity (C) are required to be met at the same time. In some cases, the minimum and maximum numbers of people required to attend the activity (B, C) are not important and these values can be neglected. In case the activity is to be held at a large area, the parameter of maximum number of people that can attend the activity (C) can be omitted. In the same way, the limitation of minimum number of people (B) can also be omitted. If the total cost (A) is met by one person and there is no limitation of minimum number of people (B), the conditions that are sufficient to plan the activity can be met only by this person. Price band width (T) is determined according to the amount of total cost (A) (1000). Following determination of price band width, the number of price bands (1200) are calculated and can be announced through the web site or other communication means. A series of conditions have to be met in order to decide whether the supply base conditions are met or not. A series of applications have to be made in order to determine the presence of these conditions. Following this phase (1200), the data regarding the maximum price the interested customers are willing to pay is obtained from the customers and these data are continuously updated (1 300). Customers make payment to the system by means of entering the amount of previously determined payments (F) on the band (N) continuously or give guarantee of payment (900, 1000). Afterwards, the phase of obtaining payment data (900) from the customers who accept payment comes. While the payment can be made in advance by credit card, it can also be made by means of providing payment guarantee with a declaration (1000). Here, the value obtained by division of number the of customers paying the actual price or giving payment guarantee with the number of minimum demand for the activity entered into the system in phase number 600 is required to be equal to or greater than 1. The number of people who pay the price (900) or provide payment guarantee (1000) on the server (3), their bands (N) and numbers (K) are continuously updated and kept in the database by the system.
The total price (X) on the bands (N) on the server (3), or in other words, the total amount to be collected from the relevant band (N) are calculated and updated on the server (3) continuously as follows:
For example;
If below given parameters are assumed:
Total Cost =A= 10000 TL,
Minimum number of audience = B= 100 people,
Maximum number of audience =C= 500 people,
In this case, when the total number of people is between minimum of 100 and maximum of 500 and the prices to be paid by these people exceeds 10.000 TL, the activity is required to be hold.
Maximum Price (G) = Total cost (A) /Minimum number of audience (B).
Maximum Price (G) = 10000 / 100 = 100 TL. Minimum Price (H) = Total cost (A) /Maximum number of audience (C).
Minimum Price (H) = 10000 / 500 = 20 TL.
When the price band width is selected as T = 10; total of 9 bands are formed such as 20 TL, 30 TL, 40 TL, 50 TL, 60 TL, 70 TL, 80 TL, 90 TL and 100 TL. These bands can also be called categories.
These data are declared in relevant web page (4) and people start to perform bank provision transactions by choosing the band (N) they want (See Figure 3). In this phase, following payment of payment guarantee, the number of people on each band (N) start to become more clear (1400) and these numbers (K) are continuously updated on the server (3) and shown on relevant web page (4).
Number of people gathered on N1 band: K1 = 90
Number of people gathered on N2 band: K2= 70
Number of people gathered on N3 band: K3= 60
Number of people gathered on N4 band: K4= 28
Number of people gathered on N5 band: K5= 10
Number of people gathered on N6 band: K6= 59
Number of people gathered on N7 band: K7= 47
Number of people gathered on N8 band: K8= 41
Number of people gathered on N9 band: K9= 0
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N1 band: F1 = 20 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N2 band: F2= 30 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N3 band: F3= 40 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N4 band: F4= 58 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N5 band: F5= 60 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N6 band: F6= 79 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N7 band: F7= 80 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N8 band: F8= 90 TL
Price guaranteed to be paid by people gathered on N9 band: F9= 100 TL Following this phase, when the minimum price (F) required to be paid for each band (N) and the total number of people found at that band and the upper bands (N) are multiplied, the amount of money to be collected (X) would be found (1500). For example, for N 1 band, 90 people have declared that they would give 20 TL. In the same way, all the people gathered in the bands of N2, N3, N4 N9 can also pay 20 TL, because, these people has already declared to pay a price that is more than 20 TL.
In this case, based on N 1 band, the total money to be collected will be:
X1 = (K1 +K2+K3+K4+K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F1
X1 = (90+70+60+28+10+59+47+41 +0)*20=405*20=8100 TL
As can be seen, while 405 people meet the conditions of minimum number of audience = B= 100 people and maximum number audience = C= 500 people; they can not meet the condition of total cost =A= 0000 TL. So the activity wouldn't be held (1600). Here the condition of X> A needs to be met. If this condition can be met within a certain date interval (1700), announcement would be made through the web site (4). If the date has passed, the activity would be cancelled (1800). If the date has not passed yet, gathering of demands would continue and updates would be made (1300).
In this case, the total money to be collected is calculated based on the next N2 band. 70 people have declared they would give 30 TL for N2 band. In the same way, all the people gathered in bands N3, N4, ... N9 can pay 30 TL too, because these people have already declared that they can pay an amount above 30 TL.
Total money to be collected at N2 band would be:
X2= (K2+K3+K4+K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F2
X2= (70+60+28+10+59+47+41 +0)*30=315*30= 9450 TL As can be seen, while 31 5 people meet the minimum number of audience = B= 100 people and maximum number of audience = C= 500 people conditions, they do not meet the condition of total cost=A=10000 TL. In this case, the total money to be collected is calculated based on the next N3 band. 60 people have declared they would give 40 TL for N3 band. In the same way, all the people gathered in bands N4, N5, ... N9 can pay 40 TL too, because these people have already declared that they can pay an amount above 40 TL.
The total money to be collected at N3 band would be:
X3= (K3+K4+K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F3
X3= (60+28+10+59+47+41 +0)*40=245*40= 9800 TL As can be seen, while 245 people meet the minimum number of audience = B= 100 people and maximum number of audience = C= 500 people conditions, they do not meet the condition of total cost=A=10000 TL.
In this case, the total money to be collected is calculated based on the next N4 band. 28 people have declared they would give 50 TL for N4 band. In the same way, all the people gathered in bands N5, N6, ... N9 can pay 50 TL too, because these people have already declared that they can pay an amount above 50 TL.
The total money to be collected at N4 band would be:
X4= (K4+K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F4
X4= (28+10+59+47+41+0)*50=185*50= 9250 TL
As can be seen, while 185 people meet the minimum number of audience = B= 100 people and maximum number of audience = C= 500 people conditions, they do not meet the condition of total cost=A=10000 TL.
In this case, the total money to be collected is calculated based on the next N5 band. 10 people have declared they would give 60 TL for N5 band. In the same way, all the people gathered in bands N6, N7, ... N9 can pay 60 TL too, because these people have already declared that they can pay an amount above 60 TL.
The total money to be collected at N5 band would be:
X5= (K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F5
X5= (10+59+47+41+0)*60= 157*60= 9420 TL As can be seen, while 157 people meet the minimum number of audience = B= 100 people and maximum number of audience = C= 500 people conditions, they do not meet the condition of total cost=A= 10000 TL.
In this case, the total money to be collected is calculated based on the next N6 band. 59 people have declared they would give 70 TL for N6 band. In the same way, all the people gathered in bands N7 ... N9 can pay 70 TL too, because these people have already declared that they can pay an amount above 70 TL.
The total money to be collected at N6 band would be:
X6= (K6+K7+K8+K9)*F6
X6= (59+47+41 +0)*70=147*70= 10290 TL As can be seen, 147 people meet the minimum number of audience = B= 100 people, maximum number of audience = C= 500 people, and also total cost=A=10000 TL conditions. The loop continues here until the determined final date comes (1700). Before this date, when all the conditions of minimum number of audience (B), maximum number of audience (C), and total cost (A) entered to the server (3) through the web page (4) are met, the phase of formation of supply (1900) comes next.
If no change is made in above given data for the activity to be held, the total number of definite tickets would be (D)= 147 and the relevant ticket price would be (E) = 70 TL. When the condition of the amount to be collected from the customers (X)≥ Total cost (A) is met, the payment guarantees of people (K) found at the lowest band meeting this condition and the other bands above this band are collected according to the amount (F) to be paid by the people at the lowest band (2000). For instance, in the present example, the payment guarantees of total of 147 people within the bands of N6, N7, N8, N9, and N10 are collected according to the price of F6=70 TL (2000).
Following this phase (2000), the activity would be held certainly. Announcement of this is made through the web site (4). The people who are left at the lower bands (N 1 , N2, N3, N4, N5) either change their bands by paying the price of N6 band, which is F6=70 TL or wait for increase of the number of people in the lower bands ( 1 , N2, N3, N4, N5).
The system (100) continuously updates the data through the server and calculates the number of people gathered at the bands (N1 , N2, N3, ... N9) and the total amount (X) to be obtained from these people through the web site (4). If the amount to be collected from the customers (X) at the lower bands (N1 , N2, ... N5) meets the total cost (A), the collection of money would be made according to the band that meets this cost (A), and not according to N6 band.
As an example to above given descriptions:
The total money to be collected at N4 band:
X4= (K4+K5+K6+K7+K8+K9)*F4.
It was X4= (28+10+59+47+41 +0)*50=185*50= 9250 TL and if 15 more people join this band with the guarantee of payment:
X4=200 people* 50 TL= 10000 TL would be met and the ticket price would be changed to: F4=50 TL.
If no change occurs in the bands, as long as the number of people joining N6, N7, N8, N9, N10 bands increase, the ticket prices would go down. Therefore, the number of people (D) joining on these bands (N6, N7, N8, N9, N10) and providing guarantee of payment are continuously added up (2100). When total cost (A) required to organize the activity is divided to the number of these people (D), up-to-date ticket price (E) would be found (2200).
The total money to be collected at N6 band would be:
X6= (K6+K7+K8+K9)*F6
Previously: X6= (59+47+41+0)*70=147*70= 10290 TL
Now, if we consider 00 more people join the bands of N6 and above (N7, N8, N9, N10) and the number becomes 247. Up-to-date ticket price would be: (E ) = 10000 (A) / 247 (D) = 40,48 TL
This price (E) is checked for whether or not it is lower than the price (F6) that can be paid by the people at band (N6) (2300). If the period of collecting demands for the activity has not passed or the maximum number of people is not reached, people are allowed to enter demands and the payment guarantees are collected (2400).
People are allowed to make purchase until the last date interval for demand entry is complete (1700). When this date passes (1700), then the ticket prices (E) become definite.
Ticket prices (E) of the people who make purchase before this date passes would be the same as the ticket price (E) of the people who make purchase close to the last day. In this case, the difference is returned to the customers who had paid amount that is more than the last price that the supply has came down to and the plans about the day of activity (2600) come next.
