Abstract

Example implementations relate to supplying power based on a power over Ethernet protocol. For example, a first apparatus may include a first PSE and a second PSE at one end of an Ethernet cable and a second apparatus may include a first PD and a second PD at the other end of the Ethernet cable. In response to a detection of a presence of at least one PD, the first apparatus may inquire the second apparatus about the at least one PD regarding power requirements, number, and type of PDs requesting power. Based on that information, the first apparatus may supply at least one power source using either the single pair delivery method, the two pair delivery method, or a combination thereof. In some examples, a central controller may instruct the first apparatus to modify the power delivery configuration based on changing PD needs of the second apparatus.
