Description

Technical field
The present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, to a method, an apparatus, and a system for implementing base station management.
Background technique
The entire Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) system consists of a base station (NODE B), a radio network controller (Radio Network Controller, RNC for short), and a core network (Core Network, abbreviated as CN). The system and user equipment (User Equipment, referred to as UE) are composed of four parts, as shown in Figure 1.
(1) Core Network (CN): A functional entity that controls and exchanges mobile stations located in its jurisdiction. CN is a unified title, and generally includes multiple functional entities, such as Mobile Switching Center (MSC) (circuit switching), Serving GPRS Supporting Node (SGSN) (Packet Switching). , Home Location Register (HLR).
(2) Radio Network Controller (RNC): A functional entity having control and management of radio resources for one or more NODE Bs.
(3) Base station (NODE B): A wireless transceiver device that serves one cell or multiple cells. NODE B can be divided into macro base stations and micro base stations.
(4) User Equipment (UE): It includes a Mobile Device (ME) and a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Subscriber Identity Module (USIM). The mobile device (ME) can be further divided into functional components such as a mobile terminal (MT) and a terminal equipment (TE).
It can be seen from FIG. 1 that each base station has an interface with the upper-level network element of the base station. In the WCDMA system, it is an Iub port, and the upper-level network element radio network controller of the base station manages and cooperates with the base station through the interface, thereby Complete various wireless communication services.
In the network, the number of base stations is relatively large. The processing capacity of a single base station is generally limited due to the size or hardware resources. Therefore, network expansion in some hotspot areas is sometimes very difficult, and updates must be provided. A more powerful base station can be completed, so that the time period is longer and the cost is higher. Again, the number of base stations is large, which is also a bottleneck for the management of the upper-level network elements of the base station. The upper-level network element of each base station has a limited number of managed base stations due to its own capacity limitation, so that the network is expanded. It is said that if the number of base stations is increased, it is sometimes necessary to simultaneously increase the number of upper-level network elements of the base station, and the cost and complexity are also correspondingly increased.
In view of the related art, the problem that the processing capability of a single base station is limited and the wireless network controller is inconvenient to manage multiple base stations has not yet proposed an effective solution.
