Description

AN ELECTRIC GRILL
The present invention relates to an electric grill wherein the foods are cooked by being spitted on skewers.
In electric grills, foods are generally cooked by being placed on the grill surface or spitted on skewers. In some electric grills, in order to provide ease of utilization for the users and to cook the foods homogeneously the skewers can be rotated by separate motors that are disposed on the body and that rotate each skewer or by rotation mechanisms like pulleys and gears that are connected to a single motor. Taking the different types and sizes of the foods into consideration, performing the rotational movement at the right time and for the ideal periods is of critical importance in order to cook the foods spitted on the skewers as desired by the users. Therefore, an electric grill is desired, that enables the rotational movement to be both automatically and manually performed and wherein the operational status of the skewer can be easily adjusted.
In the state of the art United States Patent Document No. US1206527, a cooking appliance is disclosed, wherein the rod with the foods to be cooked being spitted thereon can be rotated both manually and automatically by means of a motor.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of an electric grill wherein the foods can be efficiently cooked.
The electric grill realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the claims comprises a body; at least one housing disposed on the body, and at least one skewer that has a handle disposed in the housing and a rod connected to the handle with one end and whereon the foods to be cooked are spitted.
The electric grill of the present invention comprises a motor that is disposed inside the handle and that provides the rotation of the rod by being fed with the electric energy supplied from the body when the skewer is placed onto the body, and a control means that enables the user to control the energy transmission status between the body and the handle so that the rod can be rotated as per the preference of the user when the skewer is placed onto the body. Thus, the rod can be rotated both manually and automatically and the foods can be cooked homogeneously.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control means is a switch that has an open position wherein the electric current is conducted between the body and the handle and a closed position wherein the electric current between the body and the handle is interrupted. Thus, the control means can be positioned at any point on the body or the handle.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the electric grill comprises a pair of first connectors with a potential difference therebetween that are disposed on the housing, two second connectors that are disposed on the handle and that enables the motor to be supplied with the voltage between the first connectors when the handle is disposed into the housing so as to connect one first connector each, and the control means that enables the contact between the first connectors and the second connectors to be maintained and interrupted. Thus, use of the control means is simplified.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means is in form of a collar that is movably connected onto the handle. When a force is applied onto the handle in the horizontal direction when the latter is inside the housing, the handle moves inside the control means by sliding. By guiding the movement of the handle in the horizontal direction, the control means provides that the contact status between the first connectors and the second connectors are determined. Thus, the operational status of the skewer can be easily adjusted.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means has a pair of cut-outs that are positioned so as to face the first connectors when the handle is placed into the housing. When the handle is positioned in the housing so that the second connectors face the first connectors, the first connectors pass through the cut-outs and contact the second connectors. Thus, the control means is kept immobile in the housing.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control means comprises a plurality of notches that are arranged successively in the horizontal direction in the housing and at least one protrusion-shaped claw that is disposed on the handle. The claw passes over the notches in sequence and enables the movement of the handle in the housing to become stepped. Thus, the operational status of the skewer is adjusted and the handle is moved inside the housing in a controlled manner.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means is produced from an elastic material and is in form of a ring that is disposed on the handle so as to surround the handle. The control means bears against the inner wall of the housing and enables the handle to be tightly kept in the housing. Thus, when the sufficient amount of force is applied on the handle, the latter can be moved inside the housing. Thus, the structure of the control means is simplified.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means is in form of a ring that is produced from an elastic material and that is fitted over the handle, the control means having at least one flat edge that prevents the handle from moving inside the housing by being seated into the housing when the handle is placed into the housing. Thus, the control means can be easily fitted over the handle and be kept immobile inside the housing.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the handle is circular, and a plurality of teeth are disposed on the handle so as to surround the handle. On the housing a plurality of recesses are arranged, wherein the teeth are seated when the handle is placed into the housing. The handle can be rotated inside the housing so that the teeth are seated into the recesses in sequence. Thus, the skewer can be manually rotated around its own axis.
By means of the present invention, the user is enabled to easily adjust the operational status of the skewer and to sensitively control the cooking performance of the foods. Thus, the foods can be efficiently cooked as per the preference of the users.

The electric grill (1) comprises a body (2); at least one housing (3) disposed on the body (2), and at least one skewer (6) that has a handle (4) disposed in the housing (3) and a rod (5) that is connected to the handle (4) from one end and whereon the foods are spitted. The electric grill (1) furthermore has heaters. The foods on the skewer (6) are cooked by means of the heaters disposed in the body (2).
The electric grill (1) of the present invention comprises a motor (7) that is disposed in the handle (4) and that, when energized by the electrical current supplied from the body (2), provides the rotation of the rod (5), and a control means (8) that enables the rod (5) to be rotated as per the preference of the user by controlling the energy transmission between the body (2) and the handle (4) when the handle (4) is in the housing (3). When the electric current is transmitted from the body (2) to the handle (4) by means of the control means (8), the electric current transmitted to the handle (4) is passed through the motor (7) and the motor (7) rotates the rod (5) by means of a shaft. When the foods on the skewer (6) are desired to be kept immobile, the electric current between the handle (4) and the body (2) is interrupted by means of the control means (8) and the rod (5) is enabled to be kept immobile.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) is a switch that is disposed on the body (2) or the handle (4) and that has an open position wherein the motor (7) is fed by the electric current supplied from the body (2) and a closed position wherein the electric current between the body (2) and the motor (7) is interrupted (Figure 9). The switch can be a button or circuit breaker in the electric circuit, that enables the electric current to be transmitted to the motor (7) when desired.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the electric grill (1) comprises a pair of first connectors (9) that are disposed on the housing (3) and that are supplied with different electrical voltages provided from the body (2); a pair of second connectors (10) that are disposed on the handle (4) and that enables the motor (7) to be energized when the handle (4) is disposed into the housing (3) so that each of the second connectors (10) contacts one first connector, and the control means (8) that enables the contact status between the first connectors (9) and the second connectors (10) to be adjusted. When the second connectors (10) are enabled to contact the first connectors (9) by means of the control means (8) when the handle (4) is in the housing (3), the motor (7) is fed with the electric current supplied from the body (2). When the second connectors (10) are moved away from the first connectors (9) by means of the control means and thus the contact therebetween is interrupted, the rod (5) remains immobile since the motor (7) is not energized.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) is disposed on the handle (4) and the handle (4) is moved by being slid inside the housing (3) through the control means (8) so that the movement of the handle (4) in the horizontal direction is guided (Figure 1, Figure 2). When the handle (4) is placed in the housing (3), the control means (8) is kept immobile inside the housing (3). When the user applies a force to the skewer (6) in the horizontal direction, the handle (4) moves by sliding through the control means (8). Thus, the handle (4) can be moved inside the housing (3) in the horizontal direction so that the contact status between the second connectors (10) and the first connectors (9) is easily adjusted.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) comprises two cut-outs (11) thereon positioned so as to face the first connectors (9) when the handle (4) is placed into the housing (3) and the cut-outs (11) enable the first connectors (9) and the second connectors (10) to contact each other when the handle (4) is positioned inside the housing (3) so that the second connectors (10) and the first connectors (9) face each other (Figure 2). The first connectors (9) pass through the cut-outs (11) and contact the second connectors (10). As the first connectors (9) are seated into the cut-outs (11), the control means (8) is kept immobile inside the housing (3).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) comprises a plurality of notches (12) that are successively arranged inside the housing (3) in the horizontal direction and the handle (4) comprises at least one claw (13) thereon that passes over the notches (12) when the handle (4) is moved inside the housing (3), thus enabling the skewer (6) to be moved in a stepped manner (Figure 3, Figure 4). The movement of skewer (6) becomes stepped as the claw (13) passes over the notches (12) in sequence while the handle (4) is moved inside the housing (3) in the horizontal direction. Thus, the handle (4) is prevented from moving by itself inside the housing (3).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) is produced from an elastic material and disposed on the handle (4) so as to surround the handle (4) and enables the handle (4) to be kept tightly in the housing (3) by applying pressure onto the inner surface of the housing (3) (Figure 5, Figure 6). The user overcomes the friction force between the control means (8) and the housing (3) wall, thus moves the handle (4) both in the horizontal direction so as to determine the operational status of the skewer (6) and around its own axis so as to enable the skewer (6) to be manually rotated.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the control means (8) is in form of a ring that is produced from an elastic material and that is fitted over the handle (4), the control means (8) having at least one flat edge that is seated into the housing (3) when the handle (4) is placed into the housing (3) (Figure 7, Figure 8). The user overcomes the friction force between the handle (4) and the control means (8), thus moving the handle (4) inside the control means (8) both in the horizontal direction and around its own axis. The flat edge of the control means (8) is held by the housing (3) wall and the control means (8) is prevented from rotating together with the handle (4) inside the housing (3).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the housing (3) has a circular cross-section and comprises a plurality of recesses (14) in the radial direction along the housing (3) wall and the handle (4) comprises teeth (15) thereon that remain inside the housing (3) when the handle (4) is placed into the housing (3), each tooth (15) being seated in a recess (14) (Figure 9). The handle (4) can be rotated inside the housing (3) so that the teeth (15) are seated into the recesses (14) in sequence. Thus, the users can rotate the skewer (6) around its own axis when the motor (7) is not energized and manually use the same.
In the electric grill (1) of the present invention, by means of the control means (8), the users are enabled to easily adjust the operational status of the skewer (6). Thus, the users are enabled to cook the foods as per their preference, thereby obtaining the best cooking result. By means of the present invention, moreover, the skewers (6) are enabled to be rotated in the desired amount during the manual utilization.
