A reflector has a plurality ol convex/concave portions on a surface ol a substrate, Each ol the convex/concave portions has a circular or elliptical shape as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the surface ol the substrate. The surface ol the substrate includes first and second regions adjacent to each other defining a boundary therebetween. In each ol the first and second regions, an ellipticity a ol the shape ol the convex/concave portions continuously changes away from a respective predetermined central position. The ellipticity a is about 1.05+(0.005/3)-|3 or less, where |3=|6-90|, and 6 denotes an angle between long axes ol the elliptical shapes ol the convex/concave portions on opposite sides ol the boundary.
