  • USB to serial

Much better than the ftdi chipset. I hate the ftdi installing on different ports all the time when one fails. Plug 5 different ones in the same port all show up on same port with the prolific chipset. However you do that with the ftdi you end up with 5 different com ports and at worst it won’t install unless you have admin rights and for my application I’d the com port is above 20 it doesn’t work so this becomes a nuisance. Prolific ftw! Read full review
  • Short cable, inferior chipset

Adapter worked fine in a basic application. However, the cable between the DB-9 connector and the USB connector is very short - says 2 feet but feels like less. Not long enough for many practical applications. The adapter also uses the Prolific chipset which is known to have driver issues. I will be taking the adapter back the next time I'm over that way Read full review
  • This works great with Windows 10.

I bought this to use with a PC that does not have a serial port like most modern PC's. This one works great even with Windows 10. There is a driver disk included but a Windows 10 PC will find the drivers it needs automatically when connected to the internet. I'm using this with SecureCRT and it is very easy to set up. It grabbed an available com port and I just had to select it in the terminal program to connect. Read full review
