Treasure Island by George Beuville

I'm a big fan of the work of Georges Beuville. He was a French illustrator. I know only very little about him, but there is an official website dedicated to his work, that features an enormous amount of his work.

His work reminds me of the illustrations of Quentin Blake (another favorite of mine). Beuville's work is a bit more cinematic, he is very aware of where he is placing his 'camera'.

One of the books he illustrated was a 1946 French edition of Treasure Island. Apart from a number of illustrations he also drew illustrated letters. I'm especially fond of these illustrated letters, that I guess were used at the beginning of a chapter. They are almost like little beatboards, super simple and yet always very clear.
